I recently purchased a 2001 325i from a BMW dealer. I guess with all the excitement of buying my first BMW (and some help from dealer air freshener) I totally missed the fact the the previous driver (Leased) was a smoker. Anyone out there know a true solution to eliminating the lingering stale smoke odor?

its possible to get it out of leather...i havent really found anything to keep a constant smell in my car, but fast food and cologne usually kills a lot of smells that linger in the car, but theres this air freshner stuff that looks like cardboard but color and if you leave that in the sun it will stay in the car for a while, i also found if you use that baking soda with smell from the grocery store that you vacumun into carpets to kill pet orders works really well too

I have read somewhere that a guy put a basin of black charcoal fish filter in the back seat of his car overnight for a few days and it absorbed any smells completely.

try putting a bowl of vinegar on the floor board over night... my mom would do that any time my grand parents would visit, they smoked like a factory....
