so today i was driving home from work.
and all of a sudden..
i heard something whacking my right rear wheel well.
i pulled off the freeway and took a look.
my tire was falling apart.
and a piece was hanging off..
thus whipping around and around.
the tire didn't blow..
there was still air.
hmm..
spare tire..??
no air.
aahahhaa.
i thought i could drive home real slow.
as to not blow the tire.
(i was only five minutes from home.)
so shoot.
i'll try that.
i get in my car but when i look up..
there's a blue van pulled over in front.
he was backing up towards me.
i got back out of the car and the guy greeted me.
i showed him my tire and asked if he could cut the hanging piece off..
so i could drive home without damaging the underside further.
he advised not to.
he asked about my spare.
no air.
so this is what he does.
he goes to his van..
pulls out a 3-ton floor jack..
lifts my car..
pulls out his impact wrench..
de-bolts the wheel.
puts on the spare..
pulls out his air compressor..
and fills the tire.
(i only had 10 lbs. of air..!)
he lowers my car and i give him money.
we drive off.
all this in less than ten minutes.
that's including six minutes of me trying to cut off the piece of tire with my keys..!!
oh btw..
he said he had a '65 (i believe that's what he said) 3-series.
with an 8-cyl engine he put in..
