Hi,

I went to this auto detailing shop in El Paso, TX that was show off TEFLON carwax.

I don't know much about Teflon Carwax but the vehicles that I saw were shinny and smooth as hell.

Anyone have an experience with Teflon?

Never heard of it. I guess the true test of it would be to have a bird sh*t on it and see it it just slides off leaving the car clean.

I'll stick to my reliable P21S, thank you.

During a 100 degree day, you can cook food on your car without worrying about sticking. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

I believe it is a protective coating that prevents fading, chipping, etc. It ranges from 50 bucks to 200 for a full teflon coating job. I might consider doing it. I have to do more research though.

Would dirt stick to it?

I will get it done if my car will be like a non-stick pan.

I had a teflon wax done in my car. It was nice but it only lasted one month so I don't think it's worth it.

For $65, I am going to get it! If the "Teflon" thing ends up being a FRAUD, I think I still can't go wrong.

here is why:

For $65, I am getting all of my leather interior treated and clean. My carpets, floor mats, windows, rims, tires, etc will be clean. Basically, I am getting all of my enterior and interior clean. In addition, I am getting the "Teflon" treatment/coat.

I will let you know. Post pictures after tomorrow

The whole process will take 4 hours.

This shop is the same one that did my tinting for $85 (Johnson Tint at 20% for all 5 windows w/ life warranty).

Beowoulf,

I am from the Bay Area. I went to school in NY and now I am in El Pisso (aka El Paso, TX).

The tinting was done in El Paso. When I was in the Bay Area for vacation, I was quoted around $250-350.

Man, I love TX. Stuff here are dirt cheap (incluidng hookers and lap dances =)

Marketing BS. True teflon (the non-stick stuff) has to be bonded at really high temps (well over 500 IIRC). Teflon treatments do not work - that shiney smooth look is just a decent wax job.

I'd be real leery about $65...figure 4 hrs - if they actually work on your car that long, they're making roughly $16 an hour....way too low. I'm guessing it's a quick and sleezy pass thru a car wash system, then buffed with used bonnets if it's buffed at all.

Just got it done. Even if Teflon is "BS," for $65, I couldn't go wrong. they clean and condition my entire car. My car looks good now =)

Will take pictures soon

Did you actually see what they did? I'm guessing they just ran it thru an automated car wash with "teflon" sealant.

One of the local car washes does a "complete detail" for about that price, but it's just an automated car wash, interior vacuum, underbody wash and rug beating.

PS - until you wash the car a couple of times, you can't tell if they just used fillers to cover up swirls or actually did anything about them.

I use a teflon 3M product on my boat. It makes the fiberglass slick as could be...

Like Hal said, its complete crap. Teflon cannot bond to a surface unless it is so incredibly hot that your interior would melt as well as your tires more than likely. Its just marketing BS. Pay a real detailer to do it right with a synthetic sealant and although it might cost a bit more, it will be inherently worth it.
