BTW, on an unrelated note, you have an Email. :)
rockytt 07-17-2009, 10:08 AM If you are looking for an 850, do your research and see why the post 1995 cars are the ones to have. The early V12 BMW's were very problematic and expensive to fix.
I always like it when a not-so-knowledgeable seller drops little "facts" like this...
Mark850 07-17-2009, 03:00 PM I always like it when a not-so-knowledgeable seller drops little "facts" like this...+1,000,000...Problematic?? What a crock of shit!! I haven't had to put a penny in my car other then general maint & upgrades since day one..I don't know if I have one of those cars that are a freak of nature, but it seems like nothing has ever broke on my car, and she is my DD!!! I always hear that you need another wallet, 2nd job, deep pockets, etc.etc.. I've never could relate to that, never...Now watch my car explode or something...:lol
rcrad6653 07-17-2009, 04:10 PM Yep, I'd watch comments like that.... you've managed to stay under Murphy's radar so far........:stickoutt
Mark850 07-17-2009, 04:18 PM Yep, I'd watch comments like that.... you've managed to stay under Murphy's radar so far........:stickouttWhy??? It's the truth.. My car has never given me a problem in 3 years..Granted I put close to $8k into her when I first bought her, but since then she's been trouble free..:D But yeah Murphy will rear his ugly head now..Thanks!!:lol

I think that is what scares people off sometimes. I'm in the same boat. Very little has mechanically gone wrong with mine (save mass air flow sensors going bad), but when we get them we just can't help making them as perfect as we can.
I maybe didn't need to replace suspension parts, but I wanted them fresh. The fluids in there when I got it could have been fresh...but why take the chance? I could have left in that C43, but I wanted a CD43 for my iPod. I might have been ok with the steering wheel, but I wanted an M Sport wheel. I might have been fine with the stock alloy wheels, but I wanted throwing star wheels. I might have been fine with stock headlights but I wanted HIR bulbs. I might have been fine with some clips missing and gaskets with little tears, but I didn't like my eight being that way.
So, it's not so much they are expensive to maintain per se, it's just that we like to maintain them. We know it is special to posses these cars and we want to make sure they make it on to the next sick person in good shape.

My car didn't need anything either, just wanted to upgrade some things and make her my own and replace general wear items..

Well, the seller is trying to a) sell the car, b) trying to say that the later car would have less problems, which is a valid argument. I would rather take into account the mileage and overall condition, as we are all driving cars, not the years the cars were made in. Therefore, i agree, that the statement about all the cars under 1994 is complete bullshit, especially given that there were't dramatical changes in the car's engineering or quality of assembly/parts...
hipshot 07-18-2009, 09:58 AM lol, I'm in for nearly 18k since december.
