Since, my 330Ci got stollen and the police havent been able to find it. And since I didnt have insurance on it while I was rebuilding it, I lost everything I put into it. So, I dont want to take any chances on having my 323Ci stollen. So, what types of alarms do you guys have in your cars? Im looking for one with a ignition kill and fuel shut off. Im not letting this one get stollen.

Here's a pic of her. She's a 2000 323Ci

Your last car was probably put on a tow truck or flat bed and hauled away.

BMW's are not very easy to start without the properly encoded key.

I am happy with my Alpine SEC 100. My advise for you is to make sure you have insurance, that must have sucked. If someone wants your car bad enough, they will get it, regardless of alarm. It will just be towed away. I also think that your 330Ci was more of a target than your current car.

You didn't have insurance? Geez. What are you thinking?

I bought the car wreaked. So, it had no front end on it when I got it. So, with me working on it and not driving it I didnt need insurance on it until I got it finished. Which happened to be the day it was stollen. A friend of mine painted it and dropped it off in my driveway before I left for work. By the time I got home for lunch it was gone.

There is a company who makes a tracking device comparable to Onstar. They can track down a car wherever it is. I'm not positive but the only drawback I can see is if they disconnect the battery. That's the safest bet you have.

how's the gsm alarm sound ?
notify you thru gsm mobile netowrk within 7 seconds for the type attacks(door, shocks, even jack up your car)
is 7 seconds enough to remove a batt or cut off the alarm ?

u can have a look for the alarm in the link
hope this help

Clifford and Viper have GPS trackable alarm systems.

New owner of a e36 m3 because my previous car, acura legend, got stolen. I had the clifford IG7000 and it still got stolen. My advice, if someone wants your car bad enough, the alarm is not going to stop them. I had about 5k worth of stereo equipment in my legend and was obvious whoever stole it wanted it real bad. I was parked in a spot with tandem parking and was parked on the inside and they somehow managed to austin powers it outta there. Bottom line, its not how good the alarm is, but who installs it. Most alarms do the same thing, but how easy it can be accessed is what counts.

Sounds like an inside job to me. Someone knew it was going to be there and you weren't.

Sorry to hear about the theft. I have a Z4 coming in on 9/9 and have a Viper Responder ready to be installed...if I can find a qualified installer that is. It came out of a GM car (unit is 6 months old and a good system). Circuit City won't re-install it in a BMW. Well at least they told be up front rather than use the car as a Guinea Pig.

Oh, btw, I live in Shawnee, KS.

Do NOT! i Repeat do NOT let circuit city even near your car. take it to an authorized dealer to do the install. The way an alarm is installed is more important than how good the alarm is.

Circuit City is an authorized DEI Viper installer. They won't touch because of the fear factor of breaking something on a BMW. Those were the Roadshop Managers own words.

Im pretty sure I know who stole the car. But, there's no way for me to prove it. Well, besides beaking into his garage and shop looking for Bmw parts.

I found a authorized dealer that sells and installs Viper alarms. But, he wants to charge me more for the install since its a Bmw. I might just say screw it and have the Bmw dealer in town install a factory alarm in the car. They're going to have the car most of this week anyway. So, might as well have them install a alarm while they have the car apart.

20ducks, where in Shawnee are you? Im over there a lot. Mostly with the Camaro Club of Kansas City, though. I live over by the Grandview triangle in South KC.

West Shawnee off 51st & Mund. Are you going to have Baron do this alarm install?? They are the most expensive dealer I've ever dealt with. I wanted the screened wind deflector and they wanted full list for it and they weren't interested in haggling. I got one from a different BMW dealer off EBay for $147.50 delivered to my door.

I contacted DEI and they recommended Independence Audio (I purchased a Kicker amp a few years ago), Brands Mart and Loud and Clear (in KCK). I have all the components including a proximity sensor for the interior. Here is an interesting install cost: I asked Circuit City what they would charge to install in my wife's 01 Cougar...$160. I asked Independence Audio cost of installing the unit in the Z4...$300+.

On top of all this I am trying to figure out how to install an Alpine system; HU, 2 amps and a sub in the Z4 as well. Of course having the car would help. I take delivery 9/9 (estimated). I looked at this car several times this week and have an idea of how to get the HU out, what has me perplexed is the 10 speaker aspect. The Alpine F540 is a 4 channel amp. I also have a M500 for the sub.

Yeah, Im going to have Baron do all the work. They're the one and only Bmw dealer in Kansas City. Besides all the little small ones around, like the one I bought my car at. I know a few people that work there and a few that used to work there. So, I know my car will be taken care of. And maybe they'll be nice enough to give me the parts at cost. So, it would save me some money.
