Whenever I use launch control now, the car launches before I can even push the gas all the way down. Its in S6, DSC is off, and the whole time I'm holding the shift lever up. Anyone with SMG have this happen to them?

The launch control program is supposed to behave like that. Unless I'm misunderstanding you.

At 1850 rpm you release the gear selector from the up position and the car launches. At which point you foot is fully depressed on the accelerator. The SMG II computers will allow further reving as soon as you get traction but until then its locked at 1850.

Yes but before I could have the gas fully pressed still holding the shifter up, and the car would idle at 1800 rpm until I released the shifter. Now I can't even press the gas all the way down without the car darting forward. This could cause me to jump a red light when trying to launch it.

Weird how many times have you used the LC program on your car?

I'm guessing maybe you used all of them up or something.

Watch this video it explains it all better than I can.

Back up one direcotry in that url to see all the videos BMW made for the SMG II M3.

Actually,

Check the area you are launching on. If the ground is not 100% flat or there is any movement at all when in neutral, LC will not work.

LC is very sensitive and will not work at all if you are not on 100% flat ground, also make sure sport mode is on.

Try looking here http://www.m3smg.com/ for information regarding SMG. . .there is a huge FAQ section.

I think your SMG needs warranty related service... unintended acceleration is a problem. Possibly a sensor is gone (or going) bad.

You get however many you want. In Europe I believe that after a certain number you screw yourself on the warranty, but this is not the case in the US. Something about consumer protection laws over here don't allow them to void the warranty for using a feature like that, so they lowered the launch rev to something that should cause little damage to the clutch. Read the smg faq posted above...

I've heard similar claims but nobody has actually verified them in person. Whats on paper and told online is often drastically different from reality.

Its not a good idea to do too many LC's anyway as its very hard on the clutch and drive train.

This is very true!! I've done LC about 30 times and have never had an issue .. not sure what you all are talking about "using it up.."
