Ultra-suede actually-
The problem is that if the liner material is too thick, then the sunroof won't slide. IIRC you need to use the 1mm foam backing instead of 1.5 - but I'd run a search to double-check.
I did mine in ultra-suede and I have the silver-grey interior - much better than the stock material and it looks great in that color.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the material from? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Carter

No way I'd attempt this one myself, so I went to an auto upholstery shop here in SoCal - Westminster Auto Upholstery in Anaheim. Did the A and C pillars at the same time to match.
They really know what they're doing - when I mentioned the thickness of the material he just rolled his eyes and said "yeah, the sunroof-we do this all the time". Always nice when the professionals know what they're doing... (And not always the case as we all know...)

Headliner replacement is messy but surprisingly easy once you figure out how to get the pieces off.

Thinking about doing mine. How many replacement clips will I need to buy. What is a fair price from an experienced shop. Also how long time wise should a pro take.
Thanks

replacement clips are needed-they're cheap and you don't want to hold up the job waiting to order a couple...
Besides, the new ones will hold better and there will be breakage. (If they were $10/each I might reconsider-but c'mon, why put in your nice new headliner w/old clips? :))

You will need all new clips (they're cheap) and I had mine done in suede by a guy at 95 and Hallandale beach Blvd.........took about a week.

For custom I'd say that's about right for where you're at Mo. If you go with them I'm watching with great interest as I'll need a referral for the new owner of CC90103 who's in Brooklyn.

You can probably trim at least $100-150 off that if you remove the pieces yourself and deliver/pick up.

Btw, I have a spare e31 headliner shell that you can borrow on exchange for your old one if you want to save some downtime.

Make sure and do the pillars at the same time so that everything matches...
