quick question for my fellow californians, does edd really check on your school schedule? i'm thinking of picking up an extra class next semester but it might interfere with my availability during the day.

If I were you, I'd call EDD and ask. They would know. I think they probably would check but, I'm not sure. If they found out, you may not qualify for full benefits since your availability would be decreased during the time you're in class.

Right. That's why you should really call EDD to find out before you enroll for your class :)

When I had EDD it was really hard to get a hold of anybody on the phone, I never did...

If your enrolled in school full time, EDD will actually extend your benefits for an extra year or something like that. It was passed 3 or 4 weeks ago. Not sure if that helps.
Plus with half of CA unemployed i doubt they will call your school

This is exactly why they would check up on someone.
With money as tight as it is and the state about to run out of money the 21st of July, they won't be letting anything slide.

i told them i went to school full time and they said they have to disqualify me because my schedule doesn't allow me to have a job..wtf?

Thats bullshit. The new law says if your in school full time your benefits get extended. I would call again....or stop by an EDD office is your best bet

i am going to visit their local office and ask, but i have a feeling what they are gonna say.

Make sure you don't go to ELAC or LACC, they have EDD branches on campus.

I don't think that they would call your school, but they may as k you to provide your school schedule for verification purposes.

i was under the notion that you have to be available during normal business hours(9-5) mon-fri. did you tell them u wen't to school during those times?

i told them i was taking night classes and told them i was more than willing to drop classes to be able to work.
