With the age of the car, the humidity in Houston and me driving with my windows open some time, the headliner finally start falling apart. I knew it was coming...

So I have two options now?
1. - I can buy a replacement set from Gault but I understand the sunroof liner piece is expensive as hell comparing with the rest. Any idea on prices?
Question here, can Gault match the original color or I should buy everything including the pillars and the sunroof liner?

2. - Given the latest BMW models cool headliner fabric maybe consider a quick and tasteful upgrade? I know this guy got the rare original stuff http://www.headlinerexpress.com/servlet/StoreFront
Get a good shop to do it but I don't know nor trust anyone in Houston unless someone tells my otherwise.
Question for Steff or Greg... Do you guys know a good shop in Dallas area, first hand experience that will do a good job? I don't mind driving for a good job and money is not an issue at all..

And last question. Given the humidity here in Houston should I expect this kind of issue in few more years? Or is there a good way to install a headliner that scores better with the humidity here?

Ideas, suggestions?

I had mine done here in Dallas over 3 years ago, and it is still looking excellent. The only thing I would do different is to remove all the pieces myself next time and bring them to him, since they had some clips break. When things go better here, I will have mine redone in suede by the same guy.

I have a good installer here in Austin. Did mine in suede and it looks great two years after.

Ethan - headliners are extremely hard to mess up. Easily a noob job.

If you remove the pieces as Steffen says to prevent broken tabs, it might run you $150-200 or so - cheaper by you I bet with all the southern gentlemen offering services.

Thanks guys for the prompt guidance and advice... It looks like I may take the DIY path if I ever find the time... I now need to find a good place to redo the pieces. Or maybe even take it to Dallas to Steffen's guy.
If I manage to break any tabs, are those easily replaceable? Can I buy extra from Gault?

Thanks much

The pillar tabs aren't replaceable. They just break off. If you're careful, you can get the pillars off without breaking them. Just be gentle. IMO, all's you need to do is take off the 4 pillars before the shop does the new headliner. The rest of the stuff comes off easily. Just make sure you use very thin material so that the sunroof action works afterwards. I bet you can get the whole thing done for under $300.
