I tried to replace the o-ring on my brake servo unit (or brake booster, whatever it is called) a couple weeks ago, and I was not successful. I disconnected a lot of power steering lines and moved the brake master out of the way, but was unable to remove the tamper proof screw to allow for replacement of the o-ring.

Today I decided to check the PS fluid level because I had not needed to add any recently (as would have been evidenced by a growling PS pump early one morning) and ...

Well, it appears that the level is the same as it was a couple weeks ago. I'm baffled, frankly.

I'll give it some time and continue to check it, but maybe one of the lines I removed was loose, or maybe some self-healing took place when I put everything back together.

Who knew? Maybe my 8 just needed a little wrench-attention.

When you have time you might as well plan on doing the repair anyways. I bought all the supplies and was planning on doing the repair. All of a sudden the leak stopped. Thought I got lucky. Nope not the case. The leak came back in a couple of weeks. Way worse then before. Just do it. This is my friendly advise for today. Good luck with the repair. We know it is a pain in the ass.
