Well, I had this car for a month now. Here are some of the things I need to fix/replace.
I know I already mentioned these before but I wasn't able to get any parts...


1. Center console with a hole in it. (where the telephone is...)
NASTY TELEPHONE needs to go... Are there any other options to this??

2. I have a broken screen on my OBC. Anybody has a properly working OBC?

3. Pairs of seat levers! (My friend broke one and I broke one...)

Also, my seats are damaged. There aren't any cracks or anything but they are just wearing out... Any solutions to this? or should i look for a new seat? mine are grey and only driving seat is damaged.

I am happy that nothing major is broken so far... I have been driving like my grandpa cause i am so scared.

I have 1 extra black center console with no open back cut off. Just replace it with the telephone one you have and you are good to go. If interested, msg me, I will see what special price I paid and give you the quote with the regular UPS frt if interested. Remember it was $20 something dollars.

Here is the box console that goes under your factory phone. Is this what you need? I believe i paid at around $25-28 for the piece? I have to find the invoice...got it last month but don't need it or will save for my next 8. The UPS shipping shouldn't be more than $10.

Hmm, the version I have has(had) a hole in the back portion with no lining. Perhaps I ordered the wrong one. That, or the lining is another part. I would love its PN. :)

the one you have (had) is the one that works with the phone... the one with no hole has the lining as it is meant to be used for storage.

I wish you could just exchange the storage compartment between one for a telephone and one for no telephone - without having to replace the whole console insert. I have a wooden center console - with telephone. I would have to get a new wooden console insert which costs over $500 just to fix the hole when I remove the telephone.

Hmm is there an aftermarket covering fabric of some sort that one can imploy which has an adhesive on one side? That may be the ticket, given there is a floor pad/cover available seperately.

^^^Try an art & crafts supply store. They have stuff like that IIRC.

you seem pretty "handy" with the mods. I would get the "no-phone insert" and cut it right below the lip and "modify" your existing insert by using some good old fashioned epoxy glue...

Thanks for the compliment, but I have a policy to never damage an original part. Every mod I make must be undoable without leaving traces. Not always easy and it often limits my possibilities. But don't worry, I'll figure out a way :)...

Btw, the euro spec telephone still works on today's GSM network and in fact it works great as a hands-free telephone. Must have been one heck of a good system back in the days. The only reason I want it out of the car is because it looks so dated.

Hey Revtor. I was actually planning to cut apart the regular box to adapt to the one I have with the wood finish in my car. I decided not to cuz the inside fur fabric is also a different color. Mine is like a dark grey, while the other is like black. What I did was I purchased an airfresher that is shaped as a rectangle and just put in next to wear the hole is. That's all...simple done.

Thanks for the note on the difference in color of the fur fabric, HappyLABimmer! Mine is dark grey too, but I assumed the plastic console insert would be the same color. Not thus...

The one from Gault is without the hole with the outside being black and the inside matching black fur fabric. Just like the pics above. I would just find something just to cover the hole. Much easier. You are welcome.

Why not go for an armrest option? Then the whole will be of no worry, and you'll get a nice upgrade aswell :)

Replacing the seat levers are easy and inexpensive. the chrome handles break as they are not reinforced with metal like the replacments. Left and right sides are about $15 each at gault or your local dealer. search the posts here or on roadfly for proceedure to replace. The shortcut I used was to take the cap off the screw on the side (bottom) of the seat that holds the seat back. this will allow you to pull the plastic far enough away to see the handle retaining screw. Undo, substitute new handle and done. Probably the fastest and easiest fix on an 8. good luck.
