I know this is an 8 forum, but the 5 forum does not have the response time as we do here in 8 land. My daily driver 525 was flooded on South Beach on Friday and is now in auction land somewhere, Geico screwed me on $. I found a 1991 m5 question is on value. Car has been maintained well by owner/mech. Is car worth the 8300 he is asking current bidding is at 5300.
Any input would be appreciated. Listed under m5 on evil bay
Thanks

I never had one but I was actually going to get one of those before I chose an e31. All the ones on ebay had high mileage so they must be pretty reliable.

No way to tell if it's worth it or not w/o an inspection-but they are good cars. Most would say to "just" get a newer 540 as you'll get 95% of the performance w/half the hassle-but there's something about that "m"... :)

I previously owned an E34 M5 and it was a joy to drive although any manual transmission can be a b***h in traffic. After reading your post, I'm guessing your speaking of the car on Ebay, the red 91???
Everything on that car looks good underneath the hood, although as a precaution you should ask for the service periods for the V-belts because these cars can destroy them, nobody really knows why.
Personally, I would offer $7500-8000 because of other reasonably priced M5 out here on the market. Kris, a member on the M5board, was selling his Datona Violet/Black M5 with 220,000 miles for $9,000, $12,000 with addition of the fully rebuilt 3.8 motor for when the used one goes out.
