Jenya 06-11-2009, 01:29 AM i screwed up, loong story, does anyone have some used DOT taillights? i need them for my safety Your car is a J-spec right? My car passed with no problems with OEM tails.. Look for a different place to pass your safety. 12inthepants 06-11-2009, 02:47 AM i cant, it was already sent to SGI, and now im boned, ManManinc 06-11-2009, 03:05 AM pricks! 12inthepants 06-11-2009, 07:25 AM yuh, and they are making me wire up day time taillights?? this shop has screwed me over for the last three months now, i took it to him and asked him to do a few minor things such as : in province safety, my rumblies at 70-80km/h, install preformance chips. three months now i picked it up today this is what he did... alignment and balance. heres what he told me to do. take out my momo steering wheel to put my orginal one for the airbag light to come on because thats what i needed, replace front headlight lenses for DOT, wire up day time tail lights and side markers. this seriously took me... 2 hours..3 max..i will post pictures of how i got my car back from them tomorrow.. rough. Well, you cannot just "replace" the headlight lense - you my friend are going to have to buy a set of the "US headlights". Your best bet would be to find someone in the United States to trade your EURO style headlights with a set of US-style. The US headlight assemblies are around $750 a piece last time I looked. Good luck! Wuffer 06-11-2009, 11:49 AM Umm...actually he can replace the lense - not with DOT approved, I agree, but with E1 coded lenses which are acceptable, at least here in BC. Again, same holds true for taillights - E-coded lenses are acceptable at least here in BC. TxGR8White 06-11-2009, 03:19 PM I recall the guy I got my EURO's from ran into the same problem, The EURO's had E1 lenses and he was required to have DOT. I swapped a rebuilt set of US headlights for his, and all is well. I guess it is who you know ..... Max Lumens 06-11-2009, 04:56 PM yuh, and they are making me wire up day time taillights?? ... You'll have an easier time of it if you arm yourself with knowledge beforehand. Here are links to the Federal regs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Motor_Vehicle_Safety_Standard_108 And the provincial rules- http://www.qp.gov.sk.ca/documents/English/Regulations/Regulations/V2-1R10.pdf And there's a guy at Transport Canada named Pierre Tremblay who you should call and pester, 613 998 2225. When it comes to dealing with the nitwits who run the regulations, you should bend over backwards to accomodate their demands, but don't bend over forwards. 8eights 06-11-2009, 05:03 PM Lol! Jenya 06-12-2009, 11:39 AM Wow this really sucks. I had to do daytime running lights also, the steering wheel thing is huge with the airbag garbage - they are harsh over here about that too. My car got passed with the J-Spec tails and headlights no problem thought. My car shakes around 70-80km/h also - I think its common on J-Spec's or something. TxGR8White 06-12-2009, 11:51 AM ...My car shakes around 70-80km/h also - I think its common on J-Spec's or something. no, it is common to those cars with neglected suspension components... motorisym850 06-12-2009, 01:22 PM How does one connect a day light running lights to automatically turn on without popping a code? Jenya 06-12-2009, 01:47 PM no, it is common to those cars with neglected suspension components... IE: mad tyte drifters from Japan = J-Spec cars... 12inthepants 06-12-2009, 02:13 PM i just wired up my daytimes to my stereo remote so when i turn my deck on my taillights turn on, simple as that just splice your taillight wire you want to light up, TxGR8White 06-12-2009, 04:15 PM ...or you can "re-code" the module... Koizumi 06-12-2009, 06:14 PM ...or you can "re-code" the module... Would that be the LKM? |
