Felt heavy compared to the others, but very stable and predictable.. Lot's of people seemed surprised to see it there... If anyone has seen other pics on the net, please send the link..

Sounds like you had a blast! Who is that with you, in the helmet? Didn't they trust your driving? :)

nah - I'm one of these guys that gives their helmet to the passenger, expecially on my bike

btw the stig look-alike was intentional :)

a word of advice to anyone going to try this at some point:

That day I saw a brand new M5 and an E34 M5 and a fairly new RS4 crash badly into the guardrail at high speeds (you can go 140+ mph at places which are not straight or even, a slight mistake can throw you off), so be prepared! Learning the track takes at least 50 laps, make it 100 to be confortable. These 21kms and 73 turns are really tricky, and guardrail repair comes at 90 eur/meter (3 rows, 3m per piece), so a slight bump can cost you 2700eur (unless you hit where they connect, which will make it 5400 + 150 for the pole) + 800eur/hr for track closure + recovery... Did I mention that your insurance doesn't cover the ring?

Having all this in mind, this was one of the most thrilling adrenalin-filled days

Isn't there a part of that track that the turns are really banked and have tar strips on them so you can rip the turns so fast but you stay stuck to the ground. I heard of people getting in accidents in those areas because they won't get their entire car on the strip and midway through the turn they will just fly off and crash.

I finished the Nurb under 8 minutes in Gran Turismo 4, Took about 30 laps to get it down on a game Simulator, I could imagine how the real deal could be, There is a extreemly almost dead stop right turn before the end of the track, It comes after a major straight with a blind side, I probably owe the game simulator about 10,000,000 for guard rail crashes, I did'nt know cars there were not covered by insurance.

There're two of these, called the caroussels (large and small)

I learned the track on GT4 as well doing 100's of laps (~10 min each, you do the math...) before daring to show up there :-P

Beautiful 8 and great job attacking the legendary track. Overall, how does the E31 compare to other vehicles that are normally seen at the Nurb pertaining to handling?

One of the BMW experts(especially E24 and E31) that has a reliable answer to nearly every technical question!

Niiice! Post them or send them to my email yordan.cenov@gmail.com

As to how did the car hadle compared to the others: amazingly similar to the game, I knew every single turn, but the G-forces on the ups and dows were rollercoaster-like, so I was a bit slow the first laps (most people passed me). Then I managed to keep up and sustain a good line, but I was easy on the brakes (my car is fully stock, no mods whatsoever), and hard on the gas. That said, hadling was superb, occasional powerslide on the slow turns, but nothing out of control. If only this car was 400kg lighter....

oh - and the 1 km final straight I aways put it in neutral to cool it down before I stopped for the barriers, definitely needed it because everything smelled like brake pads and burned rubber

Overall great fun, but as this car is not designed for the track, the best place for it as sporty cruise on a mountain road...
