Excessive Cranking hot or cold. Runs fine once started. No fault codes. 140,000 miles. Recently had plugs and oxygen sensors and idle control valve. It is a Niksil engine.

I have heard that the crankcase ventilation valve can go, anyone with insite on these?

Please advise.

Have you used fuel injector cleaner lately?

If not use the good stuff with Techron for a tank and it should get better.

Could be a few things.. at 140K, I'd think the injectors, like Terry said, could well be getting either old or clogged. If it was a low-compression issue, hard starting really is more of a problem when it's physically cold out. And by the time a Nikasil engine goes south to the point that its' hard to start, you are painfully aware of the problem (Smoking/Oil consumption, rough idle, etc..)

Maybe a crank sensor or something going south? Also a bad fuel pressure regulator comes to mind or something to that effect.. fuel system is depressurizing.

I dunno but mine takes forever to crank as well. Havnt figured it out but could be a starter relay?
