View Full Version : NYS registrations
777ER 05-30-2009, 02:59 PM Does anyone notice that NYS vehicle registrations are falling off the windshields?
All of my cars, and everyone I know with NYS registrations issued from last year to now are falling off the windshield due to weak sticker adhesive.
Now the inspection sticker on mine is starting to fall off.
Is it happening to yours?
purduinaM3 05-30-2009, 03:25 PM Yes, but only because I just had my windshield replaced :D
Should be getting a new one in a month, we'll see how that one holds.
bimmershark 05-30-2009, 03:28 PM yeah i took like nine cars for inspection (family an friends) and all but one has fallen off . thats what happens they charge more but use weaker sjit so they make more
s1ick 05-30-2009, 03:32 PM ya all the cars in my family is hanging on by the right side
777ER 05-30-2009, 03:41 PM Glad to see it's a widespread problem and not just locally.
My boss went to the DMV to complain about it when he needed to renew his reg. They basically told him to screw off :lol3
purduinaM3 05-30-2009, 03:44 PM Anyone know any good glue or adhesive we could apply to our new ones to stop this? It's bad enough we're forced to have the dumb stickers up there, its even worse when they look like they're falling off....
Georgere 05-30-2009, 03:50 PM mine was slowly detaching until it fell off and i got a ticket. i fought it with dmv/city through mail and they reduced the fine from 60 to 43 w/o going to court so i settled.
i put it back on the windshield with some tape.....
777ER 05-30-2009, 03:52 PM LOL did some research and found out these....the DMV is sure in hot water now over this....
"Commissioner David J. Swarts of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today addressed the issue of 2010 inspection stickers and registration stickers that are not adhering to vehicle windshields. The Department became aware of the issue after receiving several complaints from consumers, DMV field offices and inspection stations. It should be noted that only a fraction of stickers have the potential to fail and not all are susceptible to not adhering. DMV is suggesting that customers reaffix any defective sticker to the vehicle with transparent tape or other adhesive."They're advising people to use clear tape to keep the stickers attached to the windshield, otherwise you can order a no-charge registration sticker replacement at your local DMV office or by calling a call center. You had to pay a fine over this crap?
The DMV is suggesting customers use tape to reaffix any defective sticker to vehicles. "We recognize the issue of inspection and registration stickers failing to adhere to vehicles is an inconvenience to our customers," said DMV David Commissioner Swarts. "We have notified law enforcement agencies that may come across loose or taped stickers to use their discretion whenever possible. We have also made the process of obtaining a new sticker, should one be required, as easy as possible for our customers."
Here's official word from the DMV on this issue, dated May 6th '09:

Solidjake 05-31-2009, 11:56 PM True that, the sticker I got in October was pretty solid. I got a new one in February for my custom plate and it's just about to fall off, wtf.
