I have some factory rubber floor mats for my 2000 328i.

I love them as they look great and protect the carpet mats.

However, they have become quite dirty and do not appear as black as they used to.

I wash them every few months, but never seem to be able to remove the dirt! It helps a little when I wash them, but when they dry, they do not look a whole lot cleaner than before I washed them!

I used to wash them in the sink with dishsoap, but now I just wash them on the driveway with a cotton wash pad and lots of soap. This past weekend I scrubbed especially hard, but still did not get good results. It's almost as if the mats have absorbed the dirt, for lack of a better description.

Any ideas how to clean them and make them black again? :az:

Get a silicone spray (for rubber products) and spray them oonc you're finished cleaning/drying them. They'll come out looking like new. Then take this silicone and treat all of your weatherstripping and trim.
Oh and be sure to wipe off any excess prior to using those mats. They'll be a bit slick.

Thanks for the tip! Where could I get some silicone spray? Hardware or automotive stores?

Will it attract dust and dirt? Could I just put some 303 Aerospace on them?

I think 303 will be a bit more slick, but yes you can. I do my mats like I do my tires. I dress them , then rub off as much as I can. I like them black, but not slimey/shiney looking.
Auto parts and/or hardware stores. I think the stuff I have now is marketed by STP (blue can).
