View Full Version : Wideband O2 sensors...recommendations/NE 1 interested in doing a GB?
NoSoup4U 08-18-2003, 12:46 PM I figured it's time for a wideband O2 sensor ... however, I have no idea which is a good brand and what type we should get for our cars.
a) Can someone recommend a good one (website appreciated) ... ; and
b) is anyone else out there interested in purchasing one?
I am wondering if we can get a GB on it ... maybe around 5 people?
I would be in for one ... so, need 4 more ...
Dinan330ic 08-18-2003, 01:30 PM i'll be interested
i thought certain hondas had wideband sensors ?
can't you just buy those ?

subpilot 08-18-2003, 02:10 PM I have a couple of spare DIY-WB circuit boards (no parts). "http://www.diy-wb.com/" I could be coerced into forking over an assembled/tested one in trade for some custom turbo plumbing (Eric) :12:
I'm working on an LCD display and data logger front end for it but you can use a multimeter as it is now. The Honda O2 sensor costs about $250 and the other parts about $50. It takes a few hours to assemble and test it.
stimpee 08-18-2003, 04:41 PM FJO has a great unit at a good price.
I also know that "another" vendor is about to release one in the not too distant future that will be very nice, and be quite cheap compared to most of the existing offerings.
Don't have an exact timetable of when that will happen though...

zenon 08-18-2003, 07:43 PM subpilot, how's the accuracy of the DIY WBO2?
I'm going to need a WBO2 soon and most offerings are too rich for my blood:(
This is what I think I am going to buy....

Another one...
http://www.lambdaboy.com/junior.htm
I want to stick with the units using Bosch sensors because they can be bought for $70 instead of the $200 NTK's run.
zenon 08-19-2003, 12:16 AM the innovate M-sport one seems to have everything but the kitchen sink for a reasonable price.......but the lambda boy seems to be suited for use as an aftrmkt ECU O2 sensor.
Hmmmm.
can that bosch sensor be purchased anywhere that carries bosch? (prolly a custom order, but none the less)
any speculation is to which has "better" circuitry?.... or is the decision based mostly on features?
subpilot 08-19-2003, 03:41 AM That Inovate unit is a great buy if it works well. I don't have any numbers on the DIY-WB but I've heard it tracks dead on with some high end units.
NoSoup4U 08-19-2003, 08:54 AM Hmm... both look good. I would want the car mountable one though.
EMC- do you know how good that unit is, or, are you kind of taking a leap of faith here?
If it's good, any chance the vendor would entertain a GB since they seem relatively new to the scene ...
I'm most likely buying the Innovate one today. I'll let everyone know how well it works.
From what I have read on the subaru and lancer boards, it is a pretty good unit. Nobody has complained about it yet...besides screen size. Even if it is only accurate to .05 lambda, who cares....its inexspensive.
I spoke to Innovative today about their unit and doing a group buy.
To date, they have over 150 if the new wideband controllers in use. I haven't heard any complaints about them on the Subaru or Lancer, or Camaro boards as of yet (yes, even Camaro people check AFR's) ;)
Shipped price for 5 or more units is $335 and for 10 or more it is like $320.
Anyone else interested? I don't need mine for a week or two, so its not a big deal if I have to wait a little while to save $25 or $35.
subpilot 08-19-2003, 03:52 PM I'll sign up for the group buy. It's worth not having to construct my own display and the price is definately right.

NoSoup4U 08-19-2003, 04:39 PM Sent them an email today asking about the indash monitor, whether it can be hardwired, and what the difference is between the LM-1 and the LM-1X model that is forthcoming ...
NickG 08-19-2003, 04:47 PM I'm going to copy this thread over to the Group Buy forum so maybe you'll get a few more responses.
So far we have 3 people in on this. Only need 2 more to make the purchase.
Remember, these are in stock and you pay Innovate...not a bimmerforums member. Credit card is welcome.
KIRASIR 08-20-2003, 12:40 PM FREE shipping is to US only, or US/Canada?
Thanks

Canada is only like a dollar or two more to ship...usually.
I'm betting that they would ship for the same price.
So...are you in?
subpilot 08-23-2003, 02:55 PM What's happening with the GB? Did everyone get on the MR2 GB? Did I miss the boat?
I got mine in the MR2 Group Buy. Give them a call and tell Cort that you want in on it. Talk to Cort directly...he seems to know what Group Buys are going on.
I'm hoping to have mine in a couple of days.
