anyone having problems with the low oil light coming on every 3-4 months and the oil actually being abiout 1-1.5 quarts low. is this normal for the car to be burning through this much oil?

I have a 2005 X5 4.8is. The low oil warning has came on once in my drive way. I shut it off immedietly. Checked the oil. Checked for leaks. None. Was about a half quart low though. I added a whole quart and no oil warnings. This was 4000 miles after its last oil change though. Depending on milage try a heavier weight? Try a leak down test? Good luck

all x5 3.0 engines consume oil at a higher rate than other 3.0 engines installed. i think its a design flaw.
