If I press the DSC button once, does that disable traction and DSC? How do I keep DSC and turn on traction? How do I turn off both? Thanks

Thanks Kevlar 08-18-2003, 02:34 PM In the E46 M3... one push disables everything, ASC, DSC and CBC. Also, please refer to the rules below about your URL in your signature... That's amazing that I can't just switch off traction. Is there anyway to fix this? About posting. I don't sell anything. I just organize small meets and autoX's through SCCA and PCA. Should I still remove my website? It's just really for fun 330tuan 08-18-2003, 07:06 PM i think in the 3 series, press and release dsc to turn off dsc and on traction press and hold for 3 seconds to turn both off kevlar, are you sure about the m3? thanks Kevlar 08-18-2003, 07:30 PM Originally posted by 330tuan i think in the 3 series, press and release dsc to turn off dsc and on traction press and hold for 3 seconds to turn both off kevlar, are you sure about the m3? thanks Absolutely positive... as I've had the M3 and a 330 on the skidpad already. Regular 3series (non-M) has two versions. Push once, deactivates ASC (acceleration traction control). You can burn rubber from a stoplight until the cows come home. Push and hold for five seconds deactivated ASC and DSC/CBC (dynamic stability control and corner brake control. You can burn rubber till the cows come home and the car will now rotate. With DSC/CBC on, the car will not rotate sideways. jsheffel 08-19-2003, 12:59 PM So what am I doing wrong? Even with DSC off, when I punch the gas there is a slight hesitation while the car starts to move. By the time the juice kicks in the rears are already moving enough that they don't break traction. I get the same delay in acceleration even when I am using launch control. What gives?:help Kevlar 08-19-2003, 01:16 PM Originally posted by jsheffel So what am I doing wrong? SMG won't let the RPMs get high enough to break traction with the tires you have on. Wait until the tires get bald, you'll have no issue then. Perfect example. If you put the car in second at about 1000rpm then floor it. The car move forward but nothing major until about 1800-2000 rpms... then it explodes forward. SMG won't let you put enough power to the ground (currently) to spin the tires. Find somewhere really slippery (add soap to the tires if necessary) and try... you'll see, it works. I've had my car sliding forwards, backwards, sideways... with the single push of the DSC. truth 08-19-2003, 01:52 PM Yep...my smg slides every which way from sunday...trust me. |
