I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the Borla Muffler for the e46 M3.
Any clue of power gains and weight - it looks to be lighter?

It weighs 37lbs itself. So its about 13lbs lighter than stock.

Anyone know the exact power gains and weight loss of the Eissanmen Titanium Exhaust from stock? I got the exhaust and it sounds great, feels powerful, looks great and is a lot lighter the the stock exhaust but, i do not know the exact numbers though.

I never considered the Borla before - very few people mention it when exhaust comparos come up. After seeing it on the Turner website, I think I would take a serious look at it. The price is great compared to everything else out - more like an E36 price than E46. I think the design is pretty original too.

I'd like to hear a sound file if there's one out there.

Ahh thanks. I had no idea Turnermotorsports had them.
A 12 HP gain transfers to about 7 to the wheels. So power gains are average.
The 13lb savings is pretty good.

I checked Borla's site for a sound clip, but they haven't yet updated to the E46.

You actually think that there is a muffler out there that gains 12 hp crank or rw (without software changes and I seriously doubt that as well)? that's funny.... I have this bridge in iowa I'm trying to sell...
with any of the noise makers if you do not lose power and like the noise it makes, call it a good day. Be happy with weight savings.
HP can be found further up stream like euro cats and header, etc but not in the muffler - sorry but BMW did their homework on this one and the aftermarket folks are _full of shit. The mind associates noise with speed - loud cars just sound faster

sorry to jack the thread, but how does GabbyGM3 get 415hp out of his or her m3?

I would tend to agree. Most of the claimed horsepower gains are up top....at the expense of low end torque. And god knows my 325 cant afford any less low end torque.

Anyone know of a exhaust that retains the low end, dosent sound like a ricer and is lighter than stock?

That said Borla is a very well made product. Cant confirm anything about power curves though.

mikek_m3,
I have seen dynocharts with 5-7 rwhp gains. Maybe a 12HP gain at the crank is alittle high, but there is minimal power to gained. Aftermarket exhaust really help at high speeds. Ive had 1st hand experience with this.

i've yet to see an independent dyno of an E46 M3 exhaust make anything more than 1 or 2 hp and then at the very top end. Manufacturers can post anything they like.... Again, noise is perceived as speed.
I had exhausts on both of my previous E36 M3's neither lived up to anything close to what was claimed by the maker (both dinan and remus).
Believe what you will.... Its your money.
