View Full Version : Seriously?! This might be the last straw...

Yesterday was supposed to be the short day of my week, I had all of my experiments and procedures planned out such so that I could be in at 10 and out by 4:30 to go to the gym. My nice neat schedule changed however when I got to my car and found this:

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/nmonte05/Break03.jpg

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/nmonte05/Break10.jpg

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/nmonte05/Break04.jpg

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/nmonte05/Break05.jpg

And yes, on the passenger seat is a cigarette that was thrown in the car while still lit by whatever f*cktard broke in.

I called the boston police, who told me to call 911 (state police), who then transferred me to 911 (boston PD), who took my info and said they would send the first available cruiser. I waited for the cop for an hour before calling back to check that someone was still on the way. BPD told me that they had gotten busy in the interim but that someone would be coming shortly, however after another hour they called me back saying that they were still too busy and that it would be at least an additional 2 hours for a cruiser because as a breaking and entering victim I was a low priority, so I should just go to the nearest station to file the report. They asked if I was familiar with the area, to which I said 'yes, I know where BPD headquarters is on Tremont' and asked if they had a lot to put the car in. Their response was that I can't file a report at the Boston police headquarters, and that I should go to the next nearest station - Dudley. Knowing that I was headed straight into the heart of the f*cking ghetto driving a bmw with a smashed in passenger window was just icing on the old rape cake. After another hour and a half or so at the Dudley station (with the car parked outside getting drenched by the rain) - during which time I was witnessed all manor of city's most upstanding citizens trying to bailout their boyfriend/husband/son/dealer with multiple warrants in multiple cities - I finally left that hellhole to drive back to somerville....in the pouring rain...covered in broken glass...missing a GPS, 100 cds that will probably just get thrown out, and a whole lot of love for the city....so that I could start the process of doing this:

I've just about had it...I'm seriously considering selling the car to buy a stripped out track rat and a piece of sh*t pickup truck that'll be functionally ugly. ~$4000 in damage in the last 18-months - of which my only part has been parking with consideration for the other cars around me - is just too f*cking much, it's not worth it.

Cliffs: f*ckitall...just look at the pics.

Time to sell the car, enough is enough. Obviously it has some kind of voodooo on it from an ex gf or something. I like the idea of a track rat & truck or something. Not going to lie, we love the beat up pickup truck. Oddly enough some days I even miss driving that and choose it over other available cars.

At this point just get something you can dauttle around in during winter if need be and enjoy in the summer since you will soon be able to walk your ass to work.

Can that be taken care of while it's at Phil's as well?

Wow, that fucking blows. So sorry man. You have the home phone of your ins agent yet? You've gone through endless amounts of shit with that car getting banged up.

Were the swiped items in view from the outside of the car, or was it a smash and rummage through the glovebox and under seats, etc?

smash and rummage, i keep nothing in plain view. they only went under the passenger seat though...i had another book of cd's under the drivers side that wasn't touched.

i honestly think it was more for shits and giggles than to grab anything. there was a lot of other random crap in the car that they could have taken if they went inside at all.

Dude, that sucks. I don't think I could own a nice car in Boston after just driving through Boston and Cambridge. I swear I picked up a new ding on the fender of my e36 during my <12 hour stay.

...and this is why I moved out of the city and started a chicken farm in the middle of nowhere. Commuting sucks though. :(

I'm so happy to live where I live when I hear story like that. It must really suck not being able to keep something shinny. My neighborhood is not the fanciest in town, yet didn't had any problem in 2 years. Just had 2 emblems stolen in the 5 years I had my car. Maybe it's time to move, not to sell the car. :rolleyes Lots of job available over here, you just need to speak french :stickoutt.

That is awful Nick. I agree on selling the car. It's just too nice of a car in such a shitty location (parking wise) to risk it. I wonder if the bruins/celts/and red sox losses had anything to do with someone doing this? Either way, I think it's a sign to get rid of it. Sorry man.:(

I think sellin the car may be a bit of a rash decision in an emotional, frustrating situation. Silver lining is that it happened before the car heads off to the body shop. Small victory, I know.

Regardless, the car will be all fixed up and look awesome very soon. Besides, you're moving into a place thats a very quick T ride/walking distance to work, right? Also, you mentioned there was a garage near the new apt that you could park the car in to keep it off the streets.

Sorry to hear that man - I'm trying to sell my M3 now too because it's just not worth it to keep on the street in Charlestown. I have my QX4 which is going to get driven into the ground over the next couple of years and then hopefully I'll either be back in FL or in the 'burbs.

Didn't you have an Audi Avant? When did the 330 come in?

ha, that's literally the exact thing i said to myself when i saw the damage.

just talked to the insurance co, having the glass replaced at home tomorrow at 10am and they will pay up to $50 to get the tint re-applied.

i'll still have minor-ly scratched up seats and door cards, and no gps or tunes, but its a start!

Sorry man.

I had my e36 broken into in PO Square years ago the same way. Its a major violation.

Its an unfortunate and upsetting price to pay for living in the city. :mad Good luck on getting things back in order.

Do you have any details on your 330? I ask because I just bought one myself and am curious about the package/deal you got.

Nick, sucks to hear and see another incident with your bimmer. :( Might be time to take the T or park in the garage near your workplace. Not the friendliest neighborhood down there. Go out have a few drinks with the crew and wash away your sorrows.
