View Full Version : 840Ci pricing
Taylormade 05-13-2009, 03:16 PM How reliable is Edmunds or KBB in pricing the 840Ci? For example, a seller on Autotrader is asking between $13k and $14k for an 840Ci. That same car is priced on Edmunds is $7500 and $10000 on KBB.
That seems to be a pretty big difference.
Thanks!

Might be a good price. I live real close to this place. Let me know if you want it checked out. Contact me offline at: scs763@aol.com
Koizumi 05-13-2009, 04:44 PM That is a nice looking one. And maintenance records included is a plus.
Imndeep 05-13-2009, 04:52 PM Whenever I look at prices I use the online NADAGUIDES value. KBB is always low, same with Edmunds. But you have to remeber supply and demand. These cars are becoming more and more collectable and this one is an extremely clean example. I'd offer him 13.8 The National economy is still in the toilet, he'll bite. Good luck :D
850EYE 05-13-2009, 04:56 PM 11-5 is what I'd offer. Come with cash. It always talks.
OUTLAW840ci 05-13-2009, 08:34 PM looks just like my car, same year and similar miles. i paid 10k for mine over a year ago and it had 98,000 on it.
LEFT OVER RICE 05-13-2009, 08:43 PM I think that enthusiast owned 8 series are priced diffrently from the KBB because of whats been added or taken care of to ensure that the car is in top running condition.
For instance, theres a guy near my house who is selling his 840. White/black I believe with a chip, M-Pars, and FULLY REBUILT SUSPENSION. Every part of the suspension has been taken care of by him. He told me that he is asking $15,000 because of the money he put into the parts.
Bankswood 05-13-2009, 10:51 PM I paid 13,500 last Oct for my 97 840ci. 70,000 mile one owner routinely serviced. It did not have m pars though.
luapynot 05-13-2009, 11:39 PM This poped-up on craigslist (Austin) today:

Kinda wierd about the "clone" treatment, but it might be good for price comparsion.

silversunbeam 05-13-2009, 11:44 PM You can look at all the price guidebooks in the world. The bottom line on buying and selling anything is what two parties agree on. That said would you rather buy a car owned by an adult enthusiast who is passionate about their car and pay extra for a well cared-for car with no stories, or go by the book with some dealer and pay for a car with no documentation which has been tarted up? I'll bet you spend more $$$ right off the bat sorting out the dealer's car than you would have spending more up front for a well maintained privately owned car.
