Koizumi 05-12-2009, 12:48 PM I don't think anybody's tried x5 bushings on e31. I do know that Phoenix Motorsport designed E31 bushings based upon the M5 bushings. They are essentially, from my understanding, improved M5 bushings. Interesting info about the X5 bushings though. I assume that they're harder or less flexible than m5 bushings? Cheers ganesht 05-12-2009, 01:19 PM I don't think anybody's tried x5 bushings on e31. I do know that Phoenix Motorsport designed E31 bushings based upon the M5 bushings. Cheers yup they are the same type of rubber thats used in the e39/m5 bushings, but there is just more of it in the bushing, they say it makes the ride a bit harder, but mainly i believe they were looking for improved longevity of the bushings.. let me see if i can find the thread, iirc there were a few on this topic @ the m5board.com edit: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39-m5-e52-z8-discussion/69238-installing-x5-bushings-also-crevier-sucks.html?highlight=x5+bushings liquidblueloft 05-12-2009, 01:28 PM personally i'd go with the Phoenix Motorsport ones. After all they were designed as an improvement with the e31 in mind. ganesht 05-12-2009, 01:34 PM i want a e31 =/ 8eights 05-12-2009, 01:43 PM Don't do it, You'll get sick of all the attention and the mountain of questions to answer.-) ganesht 05-12-2009, 02:03 PM Don't do it, You'll get sick of all the attention and the mountain of questions to answer.-) well im thinking of selling off my last 3000gt, i would love to turbo a early 840. mountain of questions you say? your selling me on the car more.. i love to solve puzzles :D seems like a great weekend/play car! if anyone comes across a obc I 840 or 850 with a blown engine or bad trans let me know!! 8eights 05-12-2009, 02:10 PM If you get a chance, Don't drive one, That's all it takes to close the deal!!! Seriously smooth. ganesht 05-12-2009, 02:14 PM i got to drive a 95 850/6 a few years back, ive never had so much fun in a na car! Koizumi 05-12-2009, 02:17 PM Go for an 8! There's nothing like it! The v8 is best supercharged. The v12 prefers 2 turbos. ganesht 05-12-2009, 02:22 PM Go for an 8! There's nothing like it! The v8 is best supercharged. The v12 prefers 2 turbos. I know, but i want to take a rare (1649 in the us) and then drop i a 6mt in it and tt it, make it one off... there are too many s/ced m62, but how many tt m60s are there? I know we always talk about replacing the fronts with these, does anyone have the actual part#? Man im sorry for totally thread jacking you =/ Toy72 05-13-2009, 05:05 AM No worry's, brother. That's what happens when people get passionate about what they love :). p.s. Thank, Tom! 8Tech 05-13-2009, 10:24 AM i believe the x5 bushings are better.. most of the guys on the m5boards use the hd x5 bushings.. The X5 bushing will not fit either the E34 M5 OR the E31. X5 bushings have an outside diameter of 66mm whereas the E31/M5 arm takes a 55mm bush. Additionally, the X5 bush is 76mm wide and the E31/M5 has a bush gap of 58mm. So absolutely NO WAY will the X5 bushes fit the E31. 8Tech. yup they are the same type of rubber thats used in the e39/m5 bushings, but there is just more of it in the bushing, they say it makes the ride a bit harder, but mainly i believe they were looking for improved longevity of the bushings.. let me see if i can find the thread, iirc there were a few on this topic @ the m5board.com edit: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39-m5-e52-z8-discussion/69238-installing-x5-bushings-also-crevier-sucks.html?highlight=x5+bushings This is an E39 M5, the E31 takes E34 M5 bushes. 8Tech. Koizumi 05-13-2009, 12:42 PM ^^^Thanks for the clarification. It's good to keep our parts spec info correct on the public fora. Toy72 05-14-2009, 06:34 AM Hell yeah, I'm starting to have alot of extra parts lying around like Tom :). ganesht 05-15-2009, 12:04 PM The X5 bushing will not fit either the E34 M5 OR the E31. Also are priced well. 8eights 05-15-2009, 10:37 PM How long have you had them? Where did you fit them? Just curious, They will be my next move on Bushings as well, Thanks! rcrad6653 05-15-2009, 11:03 PM Marv, 8tech may chime in here, but iirc a client has had them on for 20k+ over rough terrain to test...... no issues, and that was months ago. If you get a good 35k out of these with no problems it's a great product. The ease of install makes it a no brainer. 8eights 05-15-2009, 11:17 PM Good enough, Thank you! |
