Hey guys, my transmission had been slipping for a while ~1000 miles. I had changed fluid and filter and it still slipped. Then it started to not want to shift into high gear (automatic transmission). I took it down to a very good (reputable) BMW transmission shop here in Wilmington, NC and they pulled it out and have it torn down. I went down to check it out while it was apart and I can tell you that there was not much friction material left on the clutch plates. Most were down to metal against metal, guess I waited a little long to get it done. I'll post some pics later.

The car has ~84k miles.
I picked up the car Friday and drove it home. I noticed that after talking up to 65 MPH when I lifted off the gas it started to smoke behind the car, smelled like tranny fluid. I called the shop and they said it may be a little over full and just relieving itself through the overfill. After some more driving it stopped. So yesterday I was heading down a fourway and a guy in an Acura kept racing up to my car and revving his engine. After about 5 miles of this I gave him what he thought he wanted. He was good for about 125mph and then he bacame this little dot in my rear view:) as I took it up to 140. Suddenly I remembered why I love this car so much!:buttrock

The only thing that was not cool is when I lifted off the throttle it poured a bunch more smoke/tranny fluid. I am taking the car back tomorrow to the shop and they are going to recheck and properly fill to the correct fluid level.
