Hello Guys. I had posted some problems with the "check backrest lock" towards the end of following thread.
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1131597
I had thought it might be the batteries so replaced with new Interstate 93s manufactured this month this Sat. And a no go. Here are the problems if you guys can please help me with:
1) No. 18 fuse “Illuminated makeup mirror” 7.5a no good. Replaced new, still blows. Put in a 15a, still blows.
2) Radio inop. CD came be removed but can not turn on. Rear fuse ok
3) Fuel meter on cluster on empty. Cluster test…gave the codes 131071 code, 24 60 HS, 007297 EICH
4) Rear view mirror dim mode not working
5) Passenger outside mirror does not move down when in reverse
6) Steering wheel does not move up when hand parking brake applied
7) Check Backrest lock.
I found some other 8ers that had the same problems and mentioned it is related to this No18 fuse.

Or due to a bad 'body module'

Anybody else here went thru this problem before and can offer any help/ideas to fix? Thanks all.
Ok everyone...listen up. Got my 8 fixed and it was all caused by the No. 18 fuse! I had gotten advise from Steve L. from roadfly. What a great guy. He had all the same problems and said his problem was caused by the phone cable being crushed next the hand brake. This caused a current not to flow or an arc. Who knows. Anyhow took my center console, moved the phone cable straight, tied it down in place a little loose, put in the new fuse, and everything came to life!
If anybody else have any of the issues I had and your fuse 18 is blown and keeps doing it...then give this try first. Thank goodness for new friends, with our same 8 passion.
