I'm putting the 8 into storage for the next 12+ months. After removing the batteries does anyone know of a way to lock the boot?

I'd take jumpercables, connect one battery via the terminals in the engine bay and then just lock the car.
I always have the opposite problem - how do i unlock the boot after the batteries are dead :D And I do it exactly as described above.

P.S. Everyone else is bringing her/his E31 back on the road and you put it in storage?

What about just using the key? Won't it lock manually?

exactly, You can open with a key, Why not unplug a important fuse or relay in the trunk and then put a battery tender on the batteries it to keep them in healthy shape for your return.
