I'm getting ready to purchase a 2006 X5 4.4i with Sports Package, Premium Package, Nav, 19'' Wheels, and a couple other options. I wanted to see if anyone had any insight into this year and model of issues or concerns to look for? Thanks in advance for your advice!!

I have a 2006 4.4 with all of those options as well. In general I think they are pretty sound cars. I bought mine (2yrs old, 32k, 1 owner off lease) from a local BMW dealer. Personally mine has been a ton of problems - none of which have cost me $1 because of the great warrantee. However I think my car is an outlier. You should be fine. I would be mad about my car... but it is so damn fun to drive that I LOVE IT!

We bought an 06 4.4 new. Within the first month, due to hard starting, the Fuel Pump was replaced. No change, finally they got it right and replaced all injectors...problem went away. Since then, 50,000 miles and not one problem. However, we just traded it because I refuse to own a BMW after the initial warranty period. We did however get another BMW. A options and mechanicals were fine, but sometimes the Navi System was not as accurate as it could be. Overall, great SUV, and averaged about 17 MPG.
