Hi everyone,

Ok so my bmw is a 2000 x5 it's in the shop right now and the mechanics told me I needed a new front drive shaft and a Transfer Case. He said the totall plus labor is = $2000. Is that a good deal. Also How much do front drive shaft and a transfer case cost alone. can anyone provide me with the pricing or any information regarding this matter.

Thank You

you can get repair boots for your shafts, so you do not need teh complete axle unless it is stripped out. You can get teh outer part only if teh shaft is making noise from BMW. It will save you big money.

Whats the deal on the transfer case. I have only seen 2 go bad, 1 was because wrong fluid was put in and teh other had no fluid from factory.

That price sounds about right. I just had a similar problem with my 2000 Mercedes ML320. That ran me just under $1500 for parts and labor.

what are you talking about. the drive shaft has no boots. the transfer case splines on the front shear off, due to a poor design.
