Hello All,

I'm a noob to the forum and have been doing a lot of reading on the X5 I'm about to buy. I'm picking the vehicle up from a local BMW retailer on Tuesday, however it is not certified as it was a trade in and the car is over 6 years old. I had them replace the battery, and they've done the oil change for me as well as topping all fluids. I test drove the car, and everything run very smoothly, and I checked all the windows, lights, accessories, etc. to make sure they all work. I've been given a 3 month powertrain warranty, however the tires (http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AB2&url=index.jsp) will need replacing next year (not too much of a biggie for me). The brake pads were replaced last year and have over 70% remaining.

The dealership has told me the vehicle has passed its safety inspection, so I'm assuming they would not want to sell a used lemon just for their reputation sakes (so the salesman said). Do you thing this is BS?

Anyhow, the car is going to cost me $15K CDN ($11.5K US), and the vehicle has 125,000KM (78,000 Miles). The car is in mint condition inside and out, and has had 1 owner, and only locally driven. No accidents except for a $600 fender bender. I'm located in Vancouver, Canada where the whether is fairly cool or warm (rarely snows and rarely freezing temperatures here, although summer is fairly hot).

Can anyone advise whether I should go through with the purchase given everything seems to be working well? I'm mainly worried about front suspension problems people have had and transmission problems.

Can any previous '01 X5 owners provide insight?

Thanks for your input all!
