Anyone done this mod? I can't find much information on intake systems for the 840... what kind of gains would be expected on a stock set up versus free flow exhaust, Wolf chip, etc.

Don't be shy about not being a "big boy 850" and chat it up :).

On the 850, aftermarket oil based intakes actually showed a HP loss; not to mention the oil messing up the the system downstream. I suspect the 840 is similar as the E31 was designed to pull cold air in from the front of the car instead of inside the hot engine bay. Search RF, this topic has been debated since the early 2000's.

I do remeber some pictures Faisal had posted of his 860 with custom CAI.

I was wondering if it is anything like Dinan's CAI. There aren't many "kits" anymore.

read somewhere on this forum that the CAI that the car came with is good enough already.

thought as much, was just wondering because I've seen two kits offered and not one set up seems to benefit in any way unless it's a Dinan Stage package.
