Iamnotkento 04-14-2009, 08:50 PM Got the D/S out finally. Thank you cantbl8 for your support.
Realized the 2 mount thing in the 3rd picture is both busted. Going to order from gault and replace.

8eights 04-14-2009, 09:01 PM Mounts are easy to swap, Cheap too!
Iamnotkento 04-14-2009, 09:10 PM yeah thank god :) . All i had to do was unbolt the 13 and it came right out. The mounts are in such a bad shape, one was ripped in half. and other was cracked everywhere.
cantbl8 04-14-2009, 09:38 PM Yes it's number two for the auto. Times two.
Were yours pancaked and busted?
Btw, have you checked the driveshaft? Are all the joints swiveling freely?
Iamnotkento 04-14-2009, 09:45 PM One of the mounts was split in half literally. The other was pancaked and cracked in several spots.
How am i supposed to check the driveshaft?? the boots seem fine and it was driving fine before it started to leak.
cantbl8 04-14-2009, 09:52 PM Work each of the joints by rotating it within approx 15 degrees of straight. Any roughness, noise, looseness or binding indicates a problem. Might as well fix it since you've gone through all the work to access and drop.
Iamnotkento 04-14-2009, 10:42 PM just checked it. seems fine. if i want to rebuild it though just for maintenance, how much will it cost usually? Mind as well do it right the first time.

Some people swear by new, but I've had two rebuilt by http://driveshaft.com (http://driveshaft.com/) and they work just fine. Back then I paid about $320 for each (e31 and e32), core return shipping included.
I'd call and ask how much they cost now. If you do, please let me know what it's up to.
How many miles on the 8er?
Iamnotkento 04-14-2009, 11:23 PM Ok will do tomorrow morning. I have 143,000 miles on the 850 now. Thanks for all the information.
cantbl8 04-15-2009, 12:18 AM Does it have a factory paper sticker?
That would make it original but then it would definitely need a rebuild.
Iamnotkento 04-15-2009, 05:04 PM $469.00 + $60.00 core charge (ground shipping included)
thats the price quote that i just got.
cantbl8 04-15-2009, 05:38 PM Thanks for the update.
If you think it's a lot, compare with stealer-new and let is know.
rcrad6653 04-15-2009, 06:03 PM Portland Driveline Service should beat that price by a decent bit and have E31 experience as well.
cantbl8 04-15-2009, 10:01 PM I'd be interested in know the price from Portland. The reason I went with Powertrain is because years ago when I shopped a rebuilt it was cheaper than Portland.
There are other shops, of course. Just google or look in the back of the Roundel.
Btw, Powertrain had both the e31 and e32 driveshafts on the shelf ready to go. They did not rebuild my driveshafts.
