I just want to let everyone know that the Genesee Valley Chapter will be holding a two day Driving School at Watkins Glen on May 9, 10 (Sat, Sun).

Registration did open a week ago, but we still have a few openings in each of our run groups. So if you've ever wanted to drive Watkins Glen, this is a great opportunity.

Price, along with all other necessary info, is on our web site. But it's either $320 (if you have never done a Driving School with the GVC before and you are placed in the Novice run group), or $420 for everyone else.

Well Gregg, If you can't make May, we've also got schools at Watkins Glen in August and Sept. Check the GVC web site.

track time is much more expensive than autocross. very different experiences.

Autocross is typically $40 or so. NJ chapter has a great AutoX program btw, more info here: http://www.njbmwcca.org/event_info/autocross.php

Track day costs vary by track, e.g. Pocono tends to be cheaper than WGI with Lime Rock being about the most expensive now. As with most things, you get what you pay for. BMWCCA track events offer great instruction and a safe environment to learn. It's one of the best programs around.

When comparing track events vs autox, keep in mind the $/min of seat time. You'll find the costs are very comparable. Plus driving on a track like WGI is a completely different high from doing an autox.
