This will be a special benefit run for Mark850's son- Marco
We are asking each member to donate $25.00 to the cause.

Marco has had serious heart problems since birth :(
- and is due for another operation April 29th

I MIGHT ride shotgun with someone too. Not sure If i feel comfortable driving like that around all the expensive cars. Knowing me, i'll lock up my tires and crash into one. Then again i've been alot better so we'll see.

My wife's 23 year old cousin from Germany was here in the States for the 1st time.....& he shared some stories of his Autobaun driving......one was when his father's boss let him drive his Viper on the Autobaun & he reached speeds of 300 kilometers....which I guess is about 180 mph.....:redspot...I told him I dream of driving over there.....so this "run" will have to be the next best thing.....for now! ;) Can't wait.....

You'll be fine, there's always a wide range of cars that come on the run, and we've never lost anyone because their car couldn't keep up. Just make sure it's mechanically sound, and you have a spare tire with you just in case.

i suppose i should replace my tie rods in the meantime. been putting it off as i hate working underneath the car in my apartment parking lot. haha, its just demoralizing.

Over the past 24 hours, the 7er has done about 150 miles (most of them at 80+ mph). I think she is definitely ready. We'll be there.

"Go fast" has nothing to do with the Black Forest Run. The important thing to remember is that we're on public roads, complete with other traffic and the occasional policeman. As we all know, if you get nailed for speeding, you're on your own. And a ticket for doing 100 mph may be more than anyone can handle.

Having said that, we drive "spirited," there's no doubt about that. But we drive as a group and no one pulls any idiotic stunts that would reflect poorly on the Black Forest crew or on BMWs in general. This is a chance to go on a three hour road trip, see some very nice cars, be part of a group of great people, eat some good food and drink fine spirits at the end of the run, and help Marco's son.

You'll find out what your car can do, and what you can do as a driver. And that's all any of us can ask.

you can run stock! i did my 1st time out and kept up pretty well!

Yeh I know I can run stock, but where is the fun in that? :rolleyes I'm working on the car anyway so it definitely wont be stock.

the fun is knowing what your car can do, when bare boned, and knowing how much better it can be! it also gives you a starting point on where you wanna begin.

That is what I am doing this summer, I got scoped out by a SCCA member and I am gonna do some stock Autocross. I got some practice by chasing him on some back roads since he was going the same way. :D The stock suspension is excellent. This summer will be just like...wheels and lights since I am only part-time (find some odd jobs). The car needs work anyway...there is some scratches and gouges from previous owner neglect...

one thing i learned the hard way... beef up the mechanics, before the aesthetics!

The fronts were 35% the rear doors were 15%, and the rear windshield and small door corners are 5%. I took the tint off the door windows for now. I left it on the rear windshield, and corners. I have to swap my tinted tail lights back to stock too.
