One of the cars of BMWKLUB in Slovakia. I'm not usually a fan of gold wheels, but this car pulls it off wonderfully with the color combination. Just wanted to share this with you guys:D

Nice car but if I'm gonna get an Alpina it's damn sure gonna be a version that came with the vented hood! Oh wait, there's an alternative........
It would be an interesting resale scenario.... aftermarket Alpina-style hood painted an exact color match on a real Alpina. Would the car be considered molested and devalued to a prospective buyer? Aesthetic license has already been taken with the wheels and rear cans.

Aesthetic license?? more like Driving without a license. Those are very "tacky" add-ons that just make the car look cheap. Hell, if you have an ALPINA why mess with a good thing. I guess they must be a dime a dozen over there....

Also, I thought the 5.0's had the stock hood and the 5.7's had the vents - not sure if this really is one or not..

:)

...checked the pics again - ALPINA wanna-be. Steering Wheel emblem, seat piping/stiching missing, etc. The only ALPINA things are the emblems, wheels, and floor mats. Also the side pinstriping on the passenger side is missing.his car is either a 90, 91, or 92 judging from the door sill plates - definately NOT a B12-5.7!!

I thought those were gun turrets sticking out when I saw them. Not sure I understand the appeal of having pipes sticking out that far...

Mr. Cradick, the first sentence would make a great marketing add for you guys who are involved with the replica Alpina hood.

An aftermarket Alpina-styled hood painted to look like the real thing, I think it would devalue the car to a "collector" rather than your regular prospective buyer. I don't know, it's just something that collectors don't accept when a car has unoriginal factory parts on their cars. I don't get them. Wonder why:rolleyes

+1. This is not an Alpina (even a 5.0).

I am also under the impression that a real Alpina would have a gold emblem in the glovebox area.

What a real Alpina definitely has is an Alpina serial number.

A fake Alpina made a visit to the SE 09 Mt Dora Gathering in Florida a month ago. I'll post the pictures shortly.

I am definitely not an expert on E31's nor am I an expert on Alpina's however, I thought the car was missing a lot of authentic attributes as well and found this on the web.

Your link has a B12, the Slovak fake the OP posted and the following Florida fake are B10 fakes

---------------------------------

Ok here are the pictures of the fake Florida Alpina. It's based on a US 6 spd, so it has a CB42XXX VIN.

It would not be considered molested if the original (unmolested) hood were included with the victim 8er. ;-)
Aesthetic license has already been taken with the wheels and rear cans.
Kinda like the rim/paint color combo. Hate the rear bazookas (or are they JATO packs?)!!! You could not park that thing nose in anywhere fearing some Skoda or Trabi driver might crash into them. (Or maybe a flock of sheep.)

But a good sharp carbide blade would solve that whole problem in a few minutes.

Yes Alfie's B12 is dropdead gorgeous! And thank god it's not blue and doesn't have the Alpina stripes (which doesn't look bad on some cars, but I prefer the 8 without the pinstripes).

i also noticed that they put in a tacky, MERCEDES! "v12" emblem on the driver's side fender. who the heck would be clueless enough to put one of those on their car!!!! :lol

heck - i think putting them on a wanna be alpina car is worse than MY crime. they don't even come close to belonging there, whereas on a stock 850 one might argue that they should have been there in the first place (from the factory). of course, bmw emblems, not mercedes. that was my screw up that i'm living with for now... :buttrock

Thanks for pointing that out. The moment I saw that plain hood I did not even bother to look at the rear emblem. No one would dare to slap the B12 on something like that I thought. It was an honest mistake and I did not have my reading glasses on. So - there! ;-)

Ok guys, I've had enough fun pulling you guys chain. Most of you guys have made the correct assumptions about what is and is not missing. Here is a real Alpina B12 5.7L. This is one of 57 (number 27) in the world, an probrably the only one (or close to it) in the United States.

THE CONFUSING THING FOR ME IS, I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE CSI FRONT BUMPER, NOT ALPINA WITH THE LIP ON THE STOCK LOOKING BUMPER. AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE?

Alpina-clones are a problem, especially when the owner(s) claim they are real Alpinas. This is a well-known clone.

I am seriously wondering how many blue Alpinas there are. This goes for real & fake B10/12 E31's. Every damn car seems to be blue.

- 47 of the 97 B12 5.0's were one of 7 shades of Blue (48.4%)
- 18 of the 57 B12 5.7's were one of 5 shades of Blue (31.5%)

What's all this talk about B10's when talking about the e31? The 8 only came in two different versions from Alpina, and they were both labelled B12. First the B12 5.0 all automatics, based on the 850i with the m70 engine. Then the B12 5.7, based on the Csi with the s70 engine. All of these were manual 6 spds.
Talking about the wheels, I actually believe there were B12 delivered from Alpina with gold wheels. There is an original 5.0 in Norway in dark blue with the stripes and wheels in gold.

AFAIK ALPINA cars always have RED needles in the instruments. This one hasn't. And these ridiculous exhaust pipes are also anything but ALPINA.
ALPINA cars also do not have the BMW badge on the steering wheel.

These is the cluster of my Ex-E32-B12:
