I bought the wuffer #2 car and it has the custom made arm rest. Not sure if it's the same custom you're talking about but I can take a few pictures of it and e-mail you if you like.

FAQ e31 on Wuffer.net has a write up I believe. Go to wuffer.net, then to downloadables, download faq e31 and go through the files. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck with the project.

Cheers,

Carter

Yup, I knew it was your own design, Tom, and I thought you probably wouldn't mind it if I share your design to a fellow 8er here.:D

Go with the one from an E46, as it hinges with storage underneath unlike the E36. Also get the piece that covers the hinges. There's a chap over in the UK that designed and fabricated a special bracket that makes it look very clean and from the factory. Just waiting for either the CAD file or him to make a batch as he's had great demand.

Carter and Koizumi, I will take some pix and hopefully I can post them on here now. All courtesy of Wuffer's design (quick and dirty as he put it...hehehe).

Wuffer's is a more versatal option, which apparently doesn't restrict availability of the cavity that it sits in. The armrest that I installed (pic) works well, can be raised, includes an internal adjustable drink holder and lockable storage but, its cost doesn't compare to minimal expenditure of the homemade armrest, in addition to eliminating use of the cavity.

I am presently working on a custom armrest - it is in the dense-foam stage stage - if anyone wishes I can post pics of the process. I have had it in the formative stages for about 12 months, and am just getting to the point of fabricating it. It uses factory pieces to attach to the console.

Here's a sequence of shots of a version done by Lloyd over in the UK, hence the reversed shape (RHD). The assembly is the same regardless.

Roger, I'd be really interested to see your version assembly thanks!

Hello Roger,

I would very much like to see your project.

PS. I've got an interesting armrest that came with my car. It's small & removable and looks stock (as if it belongs to the car).
