My dad is looking at a CPO 98 740il w/ 30k. It's aspen silver with dark grey interior. Moonroof CD changer, heated seats, no sun shades, no phone, no nav.

The dealer is asking 42k as a starting point. We will be paying cash.
What should we offer (37.5k, 38k is what we were thinking.)

Also does anyone know of common problems with 98 7series?? Jon Caldito???

exactly how much that car is worth, but you should always start about $4K-$5k less than what the dealer is asking. My first M3 I got for $5k less than what the dealer ask price, and my second I got for $3k less.

740s have horribly bad resale value...they got for a LOT less than 540s do. My dad and I were at an auction and they were going for low 30s left and right...540s were pitching $45k. 7series hasnt changed the body in so long they just are not really worth much....$42k sounds too high to me
