I have a scan tool (obd2 though). But you have a 95 so it shouldnt matter if you have a cel on.

peter91118 04-27-2009, 12:34 AM Yes I have one big enough for a small 4 to fit in.
small 4? does that mean ds2's?
PixMan 04-27-2009, 08:41 AM one large beer cooler up for rent along with a large cigar ashtray. i would never work on a car without them.
You and I think alike. However, my cooler is not for rent. It's too full.
I have a lot of miscellaneous tools, but my offering to the group would be my access to Dad's machine shop. No cylinder boring, but we do have well-tooled lathe, Bridgeport, saws, and and arbor press. He lets me do whatever I want in there because I got him the 16x40 lathe and a LOT of the tooling.
M-technik-3 04-27-2009, 12:37 PM small 4? does that mean ds2's?
Means I can stick a 4 cylinder engine in the cabinet. 40x24x24
Simmadown115 04-28-2009, 07:50 AM I have a Oil Service and Inspection Reset tool for mostly all BMW up to 2004

ohh wow. so an m44 will fit? hahah i wish i knew you had that a week ago
M-technik-3 04-28-2009, 11:10 AM Lower section yes. Cost wise though I'm 100 miles one way from Boston so between gas time and logistics issues it was probably easier to do local.
bmwdrifta 04-28-2009, 12:14 PM any one have a oil/ inspection reset tool for a 89 325i?
M-technik-3 04-28-2009, 12:21 PM Sure when you drive up, to get wheels I'll reset it.
bmwdrifta 04-28-2009, 12:25 PM thanks
peter91118 04-28-2009, 03:01 PM i think you can do that with a single wire or something too
bmwdrifta 04-28-2009, 03:34 PM yeah i heard that too
M-technik-3 04-28-2009, 03:38 PM You can but he's gonna be here picking up stuff so it'll take a second to do with peake tool
bmwdrifta 04-28-2009, 04:57 PM how much do one of thos tools cost?
numbah9 05-04-2009, 08:29 PM Anyone got a tool for doing RTABs and/or LCABs?
AntiHero 05-04-2009, 10:19 PM Anyone got a tool for doing RTABs and/or LCABs?
Im pretty sure I got the RTAB tool
PixMan 07-25-2009, 04:13 PM Help me out. Just to satisfy my curiosity, what does RTAB and LCAB mean?
I need someone with the under-dash port reset tools, both SES and Airbag lights are on in my car.
Edit: Looks like I'm going to have to spring for the Peake R5/FCX-3-U, but can't afford to add the SRS unit yet.

rear trailing arm bushing and lower control arm bushing, respectively.
the SES you can clear at autozone/advanced autoparts/etc. the SRS tool, however, is bmw specific.
PixMan 07-25-2009, 11:09 PM Just bought a Peake R5/FCX-3-U. This tool should read/reset codes from '87 to '07.
Also have:
Spring compressors
Snap ring pliers
Standard 1/2" and 3/8" sockets & ratchets
lots of other common tools, no garage
Most notably:
Fully-equipped machine shop (sorry but all manual, no CNC yet) with 16x40 lathe, Bridgeport mill, bandsaw, arbor press, drill press, and TONS of tooling and measuring tools. Can bore wheels, make hubcentric rings, press bushings, etc. Between me and Dad, over 75 years experience in using this stuff and we love to play in the toy shop. Pay for materials (if required), labor is minimal at no more than $30 per. Some small jobs done gratis, depending upon if you're nice here or an ass. ;)

Thanks for the clarification. I went ahead and bought the tool because it was virtually free. $169 off of Ebay (Eurosportdesign) and paid for from spending $10 on a scratch ticket, winning $100, buying two more $10 tickets and winning another $100. So, $200 won, $30 spent = $170 clear - $169 for tool leaves $1 for a Megabucks ticket. :D

lol, awesome.
Also, I'm uber envious of your machining tools. I hope to have a similar set up one day (several decades from now) .

Don't be envious of tools, be envious of skills. I know a few guys who walk around with very expensive cameras, but don't know how to take a photo. I'll hit 50 this year and have been in this machining thing since I went to trade school for it from '73 to '77. And I still know a couple of guys with less experience who could run circles around me. I envy them.
Having the machines is good though, glad we did it. The Bridgeport came first, chipping in between me, my brother and mom to get it for dad. A few years back, I got the lathe for the cost of shipping it in from Ohio. Fixed a few things and it's pretty nice. Like an auto mechanic, the tools are expensive, but it's the experience that's invaluable.
