Hi,
My airbag SRS light came on in my 1999 E46. I have not done any work or been in any accidents so I am not sure what's the cause.

Would like to borrow Peake R5/SRS diagnostic tool to find the fault code for why my light is coming on and/or to reset it.

Please reply to this thread or PM me if you're in Eastern Mass. (within 50-70 miles of Boston) and able to help with this.

Thank you in advance.

I have one that will work on my 97 m3,not sure if it will scan your car.Its most likely a seat belt tentioner, thats what was wrong with my car both times the light came on.

Thanks for the replies.
I was able to contact hamlerda and he was kind to offer his help in resetting the light.

However, the day before the reset was scheduled to take place, my SRS light stopped being on. I.e. SRS light would come on for a second right after ignition, and then would go out (as it should).
I've tried to make the light come back on as follows: starting/stopping engine, fastening/not fastening driver's seatbelt, test driving with/without front passenger, fastening/not fastening front passenger seatbelt. None of these caused the light to come back on.

So, I never got to do the light reset because there is no longer any fault (i.e. nothing to reset).

Bit of history: this car is usually only occupied by the driver. The day that the SRS light went on (and it stayed on for about a week until it went out on its own as described above) there was a passenger in the front seat. So, whatever it was that triggered the SRS light to come on and stay on must have been related to front passenger seat or seatbelt sensors (this is just my logical guess).
