View Full Version : 95 840Ci Mods BimmerBaby 08-04-2003, 01:25 AM I recently got a 95 840ci wat are some performance mods that i can do? Thanks, Vaishali TerryY 08-04-2003, 11:31 PM Chip will make some difference price will depend on build date of the car. Most of the cold air intakes are not! Factory box is cold air and the stock German paper filters appear to flow better than K&N and don't screw up the AFM with a coating of oil. Exausts that work are $$$$ The stock system is near nominal for performance but way to quiet. Cheap add ons may cost HP. Gearing is the only way to go to get "Quicker" but even with 3.64 or 3.94 gears it is still not ever going to be a serious drag racer!! It is way too heavy to run with the big dogs until about 60+ It should pull HARD from about 25 till it runs out of steam at 150 or so. It does exactly what it was designed to do very well--Look Good and Cruise Fast all day!! A racer it isn't. BimmerBaby 08-05-2003, 02:36 AM well im not much into street and drag racing i just like to take it up a notch every once in awhile i get a lot of punk kids on I-95. i really like the way it feels and rides now. i just wanna see if it gets a lil more peppy. exhausts are nice but i dont wanna sound like i have a coffee can stuck to my ass. Sounds not priority tho i do like a throaty sound. anyway, do u have any links for the chip? where is my build date anyway? and how do i go about with the gearing. Hey thanks for all ur help. no one seems to frequent this section much. BimmerBaby 08-05-2003, 02:38 AM oh yeah wat about tighter suspension and things of that nature? lowering? any links or info would be greatly appriciated. PS- just rememebered are u using ur stock stereo and speakers? TerryY 08-06-2003, 01:07 AM I use this chip in both my 840 and 740 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2426598363&category=33597 It makes a noticeable difference at the bottom end . It is a Euro mapping and feels considerably faster than the Dinan. And it is a lot cheaper than either the dinan or Conforti. The build date is on the federal label at the outer end of the drivers door and there is a cutoff build date in the 95's that changes the chip from the one I referenced. For suspension and stereo go here and search the archives using the new beta search function at the top. There is a lot of information by owners far more knowledgeable than I. And I seem to be almost alone here most of the time. http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e31/ Lurk a while, don't get into any of the STS dialogs!! BimmerBaby 08-06-2003, 01:34 AM wat are STS dialogs? TerryY 08-06-2003, 12:07 PM A Flame War!!!! ///M LIFEŠ 09-02-2003, 04:17 AM Post pics. we need more 8 series Twisty 09-28-2003, 12:35 PM Yea, i fell in love with them...mmm TerryY 09-30-2003, 10:10 PM Is this enough in one place? 76 8 series Together this last weekend. 5% of the cars imported were in one place! BimmerBaby 10-01-2003, 08:41 AM OH WOW what was that? I wish i went! TerryY 10-01-2003, 09:40 AM Left Coast 8 Fest in Garberville CA BimmerBaby 10-01-2003, 12:28 PM Yeah thats no where near me.... :( TerryY 10-01-2003, 11:29 PM They were talking about a mini event for those in the Southeast over on the 8 board on Roadfly. I think somewhere around Atlanta. There should be a "Mid Major" event somewhere on the East coast next year and the "International" 8 Fest with a goal of 100+ is being set up for Denver in 2005. BimmerBaby 10-09-2003, 10:24 AM hmm..... ILL BE THERE! :) :) cpunk2 10-22-2003, 09:50 PM something too make you 8series to go faster is go to dinan in Mountain View and drop like a S-load of $$$ for a twin-turbo kit :) that will make it a rocket! TerryY 10-24-2003, 08:52 AM Dinan seems to be out of favor in the 8 community at the moment. Limited availability, HIGH prices and questionable support unless you live next door were brought up. I don't believe that the Twin -Turbo conversion has been available for a while either but there were 2 of the originals at 8-Fest. cleoent 10-24-2003, 06:16 PM damnit why dont you guys post pics of your 8 series! All this talk and one measly pic :( TerryY 10-24-2003, 10:35 PM Go here and run thru the Daily recaps--Don't get your pulse up! As soon as I get a chance I'll wash up my Silver 840 and get a couple of shots now that it is lowered. I'll post them when I can. Meanwhile........... TerryY 10-24-2003, 10:38 PM In the smoke and BIG trees!! TerryY 10-24-2003, 10:41 PM In case you hadn't noticed, I like looking at my 8 !! TerryY 10-24-2003, 10:44 PM OK I'll relent--Other Peoples 8's TerryY 10-24-2003, 10:47 PM Off Roading ! TerryY 10-24-2003, 10:55 PM Enough for now. Mouse button finger Tired !! cleoent 10-25-2003, 02:06 AM thanks for the pics terry, she is beautiful TerryY 10-25-2003, 11:22 AM Thanks About an inch lower all around now with H&R springs. The custom K-Bars will be on for Christmas to finish the suspension. So just about all that will be left to do is the exaust and a bit of cosmetic work. TerryY 11-16-2003, 01:47 PM Before the new springs TerryY 11-16-2003, 01:49 PM After the new springs TerryY 11-16-2003, 01:51 PM Side view now |
