My AC has what I would describe as a "burnt and dry smell". It does smell intense and I can not figure out which set of vents it comes from. I only catch a whiff of it when the AC is on. It does not happen when the vents or recirculation are on, only the AC. The odor is strong enough to detect on my clothes when I leave the car but not enough to find out where it comes from. The AC works fine and the filters are clean.:dunno

Well I had a kind of "burnt" smell coming from my E32 a while ago, and then it kinda died and only worked on rare occasions. The smell was kinda that of burning electricity. It turned out the fan or something had died and they had to replace that.

Now I get a petrol smell in the car coming through the AC whenever I initially start using it. :p

Sounds like the moldy smell to me....
