I have an e34, but I know alot of e31 guys have done this, so help would be appreciated!

I have opened the DME and am to the point where the two circuit board are attached to each other.

I have spent the last hour trying to remove the upper board from the lower circuit board.

I have removed all the screws/rivets that hold the two together, and have also pressed all the tabs that should release the upper board from the lower board. It won't budge!

I'm stuck!

Ideas?

Here is where I'm at

I cannot get the upper board removed.

On the bmwe34.net DYI, it says it should "slide" out. I'm prying mine like hell and nothing is happening.

HALP!

hey Analog,

I've probably done this install 20 times. I know it's a real PITA, it's a snap after the first time you do it. The black part of the DME that "joins" both of the boards actually has a little plastic tab that keeps the boards "snapped" in place. Use a flat head screw driver, push down over the metal teeth, like you're trying to make both of them touch, and push at the same time. Difficult to explain, if that's not good enough I'll do a different write up on it.

THANK YOU!

Going to test it out now! (EAT)

Man, the EAT chip gives a nice amount of torque under 4k. I almost had to relearn to drive the car.

The torque increase is intense, and the horsepower feels a marginal gain.

Car definitely feels faster.

^^^Nice! :D Chipping is a lotta fun! For E31, chipping my ride was the best thing I've done mod-wise.

Cheers
