My engine runs on mineral oil, and I was wondering what you would recommend me for this engine M70 I use Amsoil in mine. There are other brands but I forget the names at the moment. Amsoil.com will allow you to enter the model number and year etc and will present you with a list of all the products that they have available for the vehicle. The 15w-50 makes my lifters tick though, but that might just happen with the v8. Fatandre 03-13-2009, 07:42 PM I am talking about a Mineral oil. Not a synthetic. motorisym850 03-13-2009, 07:52 PM I am talking about a Mineral oil. Not a synthetic. Why not synthetics? ..... smooth as butter Mobil 1 - 10w40 Winter: I use 5w30 You don't need to use anything thicker when using synthetics. Unless you have a full race motor IMO... Koizumi 03-13-2009, 08:13 PM Castrol or Mobil 1! BMW prefers synthetic unless your car is high mileage and only used regular for its whole life. prit singh 03-14-2009, 05:17 PM Hello a Massive debate on oils and which ones to use. To save confusion I use the best easily available. My number one choice is Mobil 1 0/40 or Castrol 0/30 fully synthetics are good. However some enthusiastics recommend a mixed ester/pao based oils such as Redline, Silkolene or Motul. Now it really depends how deep you want to go into this. This will be same for the transmission/diff oil, decisons and more decisions. Fatandre 03-14-2009, 10:53 PM Is there a chacne to change from mineral to synthetic? TxGR8White 03-14-2009, 10:57 PM Great choice Tx Is there any oil consumption with 0w/30? none, and the average mileage has increased by almost 2.5 mpg (highway figures) from 17.6 to 20.1 @ 75mph Auraraptor 03-15-2009, 01:04 PM none, and the average mileage has increased by almost 2.5 mpg (highway figures) from 17.6 to 20.1 @ 75mph 0w30 is great for Tx. I say 0W40 for the colder climates up here. :) JimmyBones 03-15-2009, 06:36 PM 0w30 is great for Tx. I say 0W40 for the colder climates up here. :) Wait a second, it is hot as hell in Texas compared to the north so why low of a grade Tx? I know your car got a major overhaul because of a fire but that shouldn't be a reason to run that oil. smokum 03-15-2009, 06:49 PM From what i have seen and read Royal purple is dyno proven to add power expensive tho Zonyx 03-16-2009, 06:36 PM Royal Purple 10W30 Zon |
