I am having a Coolant -Heat Problem with my 94 840ci!

Problem stated Wednesday with a the Aux Water Pump Lip (Hose connects to) breaking and releasing Coolant. Car started Over-heating!

Just so happen there was an ASE Foreign auto repair shop with several BMWs & Merc there right where I had to pull-over!

I pull-in and they diagnose that it needed a new Aux Water Pump - part # 64118390090 (this connects to the Heater Control Valve - part # 1147412038).

They replaced the part! Originally they did not bleed all the air out of the Coolant system so there was no Heat and it started Over-heating again!

Now, no Over-heating, but there is no Heat!!

They can not figure-out the problem! My regular mechanics have close-up shop!

I do not want to have it towed to the Dealership!

Any suggestions! They still have my car trying to figure-out a solution! They say they have never worked-on a 840ci. They do not know if it had heat in the first place!

Regardless, they should know what they are doing!

Anything that they are missing, not doing! Did not completely Bleed the System!!!

Any and all Help would be greatly appreciated!!

and if so, Did they bleed all the air out, Remove the cap on top and check that all is plugged back like Tx said and check for power at the plug.

Make sure it's plugged up
Getting power at the plug
Bleed alllllllllll the air out from the bleed screw with the heater on and engine running, Don't let her run HOT!

The front of the car should be higher than the rear to get the air bubbles to flow up and out while bleeding the system.

Steff,

I appreciate you coming by and taking-a-look at my car last Thursday!

I had the Heat Control Valve replaced, also. The original-problem part (Aux Water pump, 1147412038) has been replaced with no Overheating, now!

Now, I am back to where I was before this part failure! Except, there is NO air blowing-out of the Air vents. Blower Motor is working find and blowing the air! However, the vent doors (Orph Motors) are not responding to channel the air to the vents.

Before the Aux Water pump needed to be replaced, I would have the engine bay heat coming into the interior compartment via the vent without blower controls or heat on!

This was past thread. I believe that it has something to do with replacing the Heat Control Valve.

That part is fixed!!!!!

What is going-on with no Air blowing via the Air controls-Doors channeling the airflow!

Any ideas. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

This worked fine before the Aux Water pump & Heat Control Valve change!

If there is no air blowing, it is almost certainly the IHKA Sword which controls the heater. Contact me offline and let's see if we can get that going also.

I don't know if this will help or not, but I have had to drain my cooling system twice. Once when an aux water pump hose failed and just this week when I had to replace my radiator due to the upper neck breaking off. Both times, I checked the cooling system by letting the car warm up to temperature and trying to run the heater and the heater blew cold air. It was not until I drove the car for the first time that the heater would work. Once the heater works, I add a little more coolant and I am set.

Checked that out personally, his problem is that there is no air movement. The heater control valve, aux pump, and coolant are brand new, plus the system has been bled properly.
