I have a coated windshield so I have only 3 opening when I could mount it. One at the bottom and two at the top. Valentine suggests mounting at the top. being 6'4" I need my rear view mirror quite high and there doesn't seem to be enough room to mount it with the suction cups. Will velcro work? What have others done?

Erik,

have you considered mounting it using the visor mount? i'm not a fan of that position but it seems like if you can't do it above the rearview then that would be the next closest location. are you sure you can't ease it in up there? your new V1 should be quite a bit thinner than mine, and i have my mirror tilted high as well as another mirror clipped over it, and it still just barely fits =]

EDIT: on second thought, doesn't sound like the visor mount will point out one of the non-coated holes in the windshield. my mistake.

We mount our V1 on the visor and behind the windshield coat. The V1 is so sensitive that the windsheild hasnt really negatively affected its performance. Try it out for a while.

according to Mike Valentine, u should avoid mounting the V1 behind the tinted portion of windshield.

yup. 100% correct. i'm sure you remember the test that someone on Roadfly 7er forums did with the V1 too, Erik...showing that metallic tint/IR portion of the windshield was indeed quite detrimental to the performance of the V1.
