Was just reading the paper, there is a guy in germany selling a 85 635 CsI with 87,000 on the clock for $10,000 obo. I'm not familiar with any of the other series, so I don't know if this is a good deal or not. No affiliation, American spec. What do you guy's think?

87,000 what? :)

Is it the beige one with the "old" (means not “85 fitting BBS)?(Sorry, will browse for the link soon...)

:edit: Link is deleted, but we diddn“t have too many US-specs at 6er-Forum.de the last times.

6 series prices differ, depending on model(CS or CS/1) or B7 like 8 series too.
But the prices for good cars are raising - not like ours.

One of the best: http://www.autoscout24.de/Details.aspx?id=lfy44rdza4d1
Two or three years ago he sold a very nice B7 Coupe to UK. There“s a picture of it in the Bigcoupe calender(August) of last year.

http://www.bigcoupe.com/calendar/

Think it“s price was € 33,000,- but today it would be more expensive.

Kleissler used to be one of the most expensive dealers. But his cars used to be very exclusive too!
He“s the seller of the last ever built ECE spec. 840 and the last ever built CSi.

So lets get this straight Toy...... You're in Italy reading about a guy in Germany that has a US spec car for sale. Is it a German in Germany selling a US car in Deutcheland (why would anyone import a US spec E24 back to Germany, they would laugh at our bumpers), or is the car in the US? Is it 87,000km (55k-US miles) or 87,000 miles (140,000km) 10,000 bux is a lot different 10k-euro ($12,680) A euro spec '85 that's really clean is a great car, and an M635 is a rocket on rails with the rare-but-still-available suspension mods.

I got a little ahead of myself, actually the car was bought by my best friend. It is an '85 euro 635 and it came with a parts car to finish the resto. I am in charge of the restoration since my buddy is somewhat of a newbie when it comes to cars :D The shark is gray with excellent condition navy blue leather interior. The engine has already been rebuilt along with the exhaust & tranny overhaul. Wheels are period correct staggered 205/50 + 205/55 16" but I have no idea who they are made by. Car is a manual 5-speed rocket! Man, she pulls real hard! Bushings are now great, suspension, etc too. Car drives straight & is very tight. Cosmetics are what's left along with various items that need sprucing up... And the parts car has everything we need to finish her up. I agreed to take on the restoration so that I can familiarize myself with the E24 as I plan on purchasing a minty E24 M6 soon. I'll post pics when I get a chance. The car is a blast to drive. Very nimble, solid and if you're not careful, easy to peel out :evil2

what an awfull looking car. :thumbdown
Besides that the owner obviously ran out of money since he replaced the 3-piece BBS on the front with some cheap BMW OEM BBS rims.b

Headlights and turn signal lights are definitely not Euro. Did you check if it really is a Euro spec car via the VIN ? Period correct staggered tires are BTW 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rear (not 205/50/16 as you write). If you are planning to buy a mint M6 (or do you mean Euro spec M635?) you better start looking immediately. A friend of mine searched for over one year to finally find this one for Euro 20.000,-

http://www.wokke.de/GALLERY-Dateien/E24_08/02.JPG

more pictures of this beautifull car you find here: http://www.wokke.de/GALLERY-Dateien/E24_08/page_01.htm

Wheels are 8x16 with 205/55/16 front and 9x16 with 245/50/16 rear. And guess who refurbished them :)

In regards to the red one you have spotted:
5-speed or auto tranny, as long as the body and interiour is in very good to perfect condition I wouldn't care about the tranny. A conversion is quite easy and shouldn't cost too much either since a lot of E24 parts are interchangable with E28 or even E34 parts. A perfect body is what you have to watch out for, the rest is almost unimportant. Just my 5 pence.

Cheers
Wolf

P.S. Your friend's E24 is missing the rubber on the front bumper. Can you get it in the US?

Hi Wolf! The car is indeed a Euro (imported in 1986) but many parts are from a US-Spec parts car (headlights+turn signal etc). We just got the car last week and it came with a US-Spec parts car to finish the restoration (we just started the project). In the end, the car will be a hybrid 75% euro 25% us :D I think we have the rubber piece, but I need to check.

The red shark is an '88 and the body+interior is in minty condition. Somehow I think that I would be missing something if it's not a manual transmission. But I appreciate your opinion, so maybe I will seriously consider it despite being auto. Also, I'm not too much a fan of the red color. Another reason why I'm not sure about it is that I would rather own an M6. Sadly, finding a Euro M6 here I think will prove to be very difficult. I guess I will wait for the 'right one', I'm in no hurry.

Cheers

PS. Nice to see you around here Wolf! I wish I could park your friend's M6 next to my E31 in my garage!

Hi Koizumi,

if you need any Euro specif used parts I may be able to help. I have a freind who salvages those cars and he has lots of used spares.
In regards to the red E24 it already has the electronic transmission which indeed limits the fun of the car, especially in combination with the US spec engine. I have an 85 Euro spec 635 with 218HP and auto tranny and I'm amazed how well this car pulls. Nevertheless I'm actually thinking about replacing engine and tranny with the M60 engine with a 6-speed tranny. Main issue though is time right now.
Good luck with your search for an M6, I think I recently saw a for sale add in the E24 section of this forum.

Cheers

I had this 88 M6 for a long time, sold it with only 35K miles on the clock. When I look at pics of it I feel regret for selling and have to immediately go and look at the 850i 6-speed I have now to remind me why I sold it.

(you can also see the 71 Jasmine Yellow TR6 I used to have refelected in the M6).

As far as I can recall, I only posted it for sale in the Roadfly classifieds.

I'm still in touch with the fellow that bought it, I might get it back one day!

Been gone for a bit, thread took a life of it's own. The car is indeed euro spec, and it has 87,000 miles, black on black. The guy is sending pics to me, will post later.

I couldn't agree more!! Article says based on the E24? BS, This car along with most of the current BMWs looks very ANGRY, like it has a chip on its shoulder waiting for someone to knock it off!

Nothing "classic BMW" about this one!

:lol Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel :). I think this is just the way the car world (manufacturers) work. After the CLS came out, how many cars imitated the sloping back? Hell, didn't ford redesign the mazxx, I mean the probe to look a little like an 8?

I'm so glad that there are still some classy BMW's out on the road. None of them, of course, are newer models.

I saw a delightful looking 3.0 E9 whizz buy me the other day... What a beauty! There's a lot of E9s on the road here in LA. Unfortunately, there are tons of Bangle-disasssters too. Wouldn't it be great to walk into a dealership & buy a brand new 1988 E24 M6 :)

When I was younger I liked the bodystyle because it was different from others out there to me and caught my eye. Old boy never sent the pics and hasn't contacted me again, so I guess it's probably gone. Oh well, but that would have been a kick ass garage with a 6 and an 8 :woot:
