i was at this red light when this guido pulls next to me in his rusty monte carlo ss and from the look of it seemed like he wanted to go. so i turned off my asc a few seconds before the light changed and got a nice launch off the line and getting a half a car length lead. i shift into second pretty hard, i guess too hard since my fucking shift knob came off. i was saying, "what the fuck?!" while the shift knob was in my hand as the monte carlo took the lead and cut me off. by the time i got the shifter back on the guy made a turn at the next block. i guess krazy glue will go to the top of my list of mods.

Mine has done the same while autocrossing...

Even though I make and effort to pull back into 2nd and not "up", it stll comes off.....................any suggestions since it needs to adhere to metal........that gets hot?

that sucks, and the sad part is if you told him that, he would think you were making excuses and he beat you fair and square.

Ah the famous response "You'll get him in the twisties". Heck who knows, this guy may be a famous ditch racer and have all the skills.

When that happened, you should of turned on your hazards to confirm the kill even though you were in second gear.:biglaughb :alright

Instead of putting on your hazards you should've thrown out a bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon. This way he would have come back and you'd have a second chance at racing him.

They still make Pabst?

Not sure. Didn't they have adds not too long ago: PBR me ASAP? Maybe throw a Blatz if they still make that. How about Hamms. (From the land of sky blue waters. insert echo, echo, echo....)

Even though you didn't destroy your entire block, it comforts me a small bit to know that a Bimmer lost a race due to reliability reasons. :12:

For the sensitive types: I'm just kidding.

Chris

P.S. Use some JBWeld.

They sure do, Dave. It's some pretty good beer too! Just my type: great bang for my buck.

I like my beer from Belgium, but blame my wife, she made me a beer-snob...

Duct Tape. Actually just roll up a ball of duct tape around your shifter. Just think, you can mold it to your hand contour.
