Brazillion BBQ at Espetus, or Prime Rib at "The House of Prime Rib". If you want some cheap but good food try places in North Beach, there's a calzones place called "Calzones" there thats pretty good.

Yesterday I was impressed with Sushi Rock - good food, friendly service, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, and convenient location not far from Union Square toward China Town.

i (heart) teriyaki & sushi

i dont even like sushi and this is one of my favorite places. they have 3 different kinds of chicken that are all great. they make their own sauces which are genius/brilliant. teriyaki and spicy sauce are both insane good

The restaurant in fisherman's wharf that's in the shape of a boat has some really legit food.
Two people came out to be a bit under 100$. We had some awesome raw yellowtail, oyster shooters, half dungness crab salad and something else. I think I had 2 beers too.

There's also a Morracan place where you can eat with your hands and watch a belly dancer. It's a really chill place and is about 80 bucks. I forget the name but I think it's on yelp. I remember it was past J-town.

Bring sweaters man.. it is cold up north..

Head to Japan Town and hit just about any place in the Kintetsu mall. At the far end there is killer crepes for desert.

Today we found out Benihana has a killer lunch deal and of course the Tepppan "show" dinners are always fun.

good.

if youre into hunan (chinese?) food, check out Brandy Ho's or Henry's Hunan Restaurant (the one on bryant).

i say avoid buca de beppos, hit the pier if you like chowder ($$), and wander around market a bit, but stay in the low streets. if you were say... south bay id say go Original Joes in downtown SJ (really good italian).

GL. enjoy ^^
+1 @ french laundry.

In all honesty, it really depends on what you are looking to eat. Just coming back from Chicago, I've realized that while other metropolis' are known for certain types of food (ie: Chicago hot dogs), SF is more of a restaurant mecca that offers food from all walks of life.

To give you an example: for Fine Dining and you're feeling like a baller, go to Gary Danko's, for Burmese (Burma Superstar), spicy Chinese food (Spices), Korean bbq (Brothers), sandwiches (Ike's Place in the Mission, this place is BOMB but closes early), Fusion food (the House), steaks/prime rib (HOPR, Larry's, Alfred's, etc.), Soul food (Hard Knox), etc.

It'd help us help you if you give us a better idea as to what part of the city you're going to be staying in (neighborhood) as parking is ridiculous up here, let alone on a weekend. Also note that if you're looking for one of the true fine dining restaurants such as Gary Danko's or Jardiniere, you should be making reservations ASAP.

Yelp.com is also one of the most valuable resources for the city, as it originated right here in SF.

I was a fresh college grad living the bachelor life in the City for a couple years so I've tried plenty of restaurants (and still don't know how to cook). Let us know what type of food you want and where you're staying, and we should be able to hook you up with some nice places.

Cross the bridge into Berkeley... one of my favorites is Chez Panisse. Lot's of great ethnic dining in Berkeley too.

In all honesty, this place is only good if you're really looking for a "California cuisine" experience as she uses local grown veges and I've heard the menu can get pretty bland during some seasons. On the other hand, Cheeseboard Pizza across the street is FTMFW, one of the best pizza places in all the Bay Area, guaranteed.

hahaha I'll bet $5 he can't even get reservations for this weekend for half the places you listed (especially the first one).

golden gate bakery... and one of them dim sum spots up in china town.

If you like Egg Custard tarts, GG Bakery is THE place to go in all of the Bay Area. Get there early though, as the line will go out the door.

Thanks for the recommendations. We'll be staying at the Hilton in the Financial district. $50 a night for parking. I found a garage down the street that's only $20 a night.

There's a killer pizza place near 5th and Geary that my wife and I always get when we go to SF. Can't remember the name, though.

Too much good eats in the Bay Area.

Go to Naan N' Curry on Jackson street.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/naan-n-curry-san-francisco-2

Order:

Chicken Tika Masala
Rice
Naan
Mango Lasi (Mango smoothie drink) x2

You won't regret it. It's the only thing I eat at that restaurant and it never gets old.

Go to Naan N' Curry on Jackson street.

Chicken Tiki FTW. They also have a location on Van Ness and 2 in Berkeley.

If you're going to be at the Hilton, I recommend you check out House of Nanking (if you go, make sure you ask for the Owner to order for you). The House, up the street on Broadway, is also a well-priced place for some modern fusion food. Somebody else mentioned The Stinking Rose, if you love garlic, it's a good place (also on Broadway), but slightly overpriced when compared to their sister restaurants. Alfred's steakhouse around the corner from you is also BOMB, but can hit the wallet (a lot of local politicians/celebrities have been seen dining here).

Make sure you check out "The Bubble Lounge" if you and your gf like champagne, it's right on Montgomery but can be pretty busy on Friday/Saturday nights. A good number of clubs will also be walking distance to you on Broadway, or you can head south and go past Market where you'll find another good number of clubs.

If you're looking to do/eat/see anything in specific, let me know. I used to work right next to the Hilton in the FiDi.

if your looking to spend some money, you can hit up The Carnelian Room. Good food, best view of the city! Largest win cellar in the City.
