Hello, Where the 8 Community, Welcome! Zeemax makes a awesome kit.

I talked to them, they don't do the fenders.

I'd like to do something like the M8 concept car with Zeemax front ground effects and rear spoiler.

The obvious next question Dave is if all the bits can still be gotten for any that like the Koenig style. To the OP, what you are asking for is going to be custom any way you go to a greater or lesser degree. Lesser using the Zeemax wide kit and making the four corners and greater doing a full custom try from scratch at an imitation of the M8, which would be from limited available pictures at best. What you are asking for, a bolton-no-bodywork-kit doesn't exist.

I'm not looking for a "bolt on no body work kit", I realize that there is a great deal of bodywork and a total repaint. I really like this look!

The only way is to find a body shop that specializes in custom fabrications (assuming you are not skilled in doing this), and get ready to pay $$$$ for the priviledge of having the car the way YOU want. There are only a couple of "bolt-on" items that are available, so your selection is very limited.

The fender flares are what I am looking for, all of the other parts can be had from Zeemax. And I realize that I am looking at $30k-$35k for a finished car, body work, paint, etc. Thanks, Al

My wide body is done as of last week. At least the body work anyway. I will get some pics of it this week. Its located in a bad part of town so don't go see it that often. We made it all from scratch fiberglass. Just formed molds with styro and it looks spot on like the BMW M8. I think I spent about 4k on the body work, new roof and paint.

For godness sake, sice a few days I have a 18,4" VAJO :)

I really like this widebody! Thanks for sharing - and btw thanks for sending me the magazine with your car and the small pic with this j-spec!

Makes me wonder, why the Japanese are driving so many LHDs and why this LHD came to UK!

Here's are the 2 reasons:

1. It's cooler to have an import car in Japan.

2. It's even cooler to have the car 'original' to it's true initial design--this means if it's a LHD car, then it was designed as such; and thus, should be owned as such.

In a society were few people ever break the rules, a LHD car represents a rebellious spirit. Couple that with the fact that the japanese are serious crazy car collectors (real purists) and you'll find tons of LHD cars there.

In essence, I've never really seen an import in Japan that's RHD. They're around, but RHD imports aren't noticeable/desirable cars.

The lines aren't completed ruined by that kit I find... it's not as exagerated as some of the other widebody kits. Need to see more angles though...

The backend looks similar to the attached infamous car, but the sideskirts & front fenders aren't the same.

Wide body on 8er just looks out of place because of the cars original body lines. The car is already wide as is, so with another tasteless kit, it looks more like a robot than anything.

My opinion ofcourse. Some cars are just better left a lone. They look distinct out of the box.

very true, my friend. I'm personally a fan of the Zeemax kit, but I don't think I'm gonna go for it. There are a lot more simpler things to do to the car to keep it the same but make it look better; paint black trim the color of the car, put in newer side panels without the blacktrim, etc. I still think that body kits are just another thing that add to the diversity of this exclusive group of owning an 8, no one wants their car to be exactly like anyone elses which is great! I enjoy seeing how each person makes it their own and how we all feed off each other's ideas to get where we want to be.

I would understand if these cars where E46's or Honda civics. Car this age shouldnt be molested.

the ks8 was MOLESTED in 1993 when it was 2 years old, total bills exceed Ģ120.000, it's a bit unfair to call them molested, after all B M W built 1 and called it the M8 (perhaps the M is an abrieviation of molested):alright

I won the ks8 on ebay.
the only bidder.
the seller spelt koenig wrong (koneig) the thing is I must have spelt it the same way to have found it. I'm not that keen on the rear wing. the wife say it looks like an ironing board.
it's the only car Iv'e ever had thats had a ticket from a trafic warden asking if it;s for sale:redspot

There is definately a very fine line between a nice wide body kit (haven't seen one I like other than the ZEEMAX) and something that is a bit garish, and all the way to "tuner-obscene".

is that body kit really made in Japan? I have asked some friends here in Japan, but no one knows about it.
Any contact address, maker, distributor?
The licence plate of the car shown is definitely not a japanese registration.

the ks8 was featured in BMW PERFORMANCE MAGAZINE 2 years ago. In the same mag was a back issue ad showing the j spec yellow widebody.I got the email address of the then owner from the editor of the mag.
I made contact with the owner who confirmed that the car was a j spec import from Japan. He baught it with the kit fitted then sold it on. The car was at GAYDON SHOW (reported to me from 8erorg)Thats all I know of the car,I can recontact the ex owner.
the thing is!!! I have a ks8 built in 1993 with a letter of authenticity from KOENIG. 1 of 3 in the world. If you fit a widebody kit now to an 8 the value of the car will not increase enough to warent the expence.
