Hello everyone, I just joined this forum.

Some of you may know me from 8'er.org where I have been a member for a while using the same nick.

I have had my black/black 1990 850ia Hartge for about 2,5 years now so I know the car well.

My car is equipped with Hartge cams, ecu and transmission software producing 354hp/485nm.
It has a 4-speed auto and a 3.45 rear diff.

Drive line and engine performance puts it equal to the Alpina B12 5.0l

I have done a bit of work to her since I got her, and there is plenty more to come.
Untill now I have made a completely new stereo/navi system for my own enjoyment.
The car has got Eibach pro springs and Bilstein shocks, Phoenix motorsport fixed camberplates, and all new oem bushings, rods and ball joints.

Wheels are Work VS-KF 3-split 9x19 et 0mm front and 10,5x19 et14mm rear in burning black (black chrome)
tires are 245/275

Some pictures (eibach/bilstein installed, but not camber plates)

Since I just joined I can't really talk about the activity level.

8er.org is a bit quiet in the English section, it can be days between a new thread, and it is mostly UK owners in that section.

I know the German/Dutch section is really active, think the French one is ok too, but I don't speak German/French so I just use the English section.

My initial impression is that there is probably a majority of US users here, and probably more posters too.
I do recognise some usernames in here that also use the other forum so I guess more than me use both.

This forum is one of the most active on the net, I think it behooves any owner of an 8er to join various boards. 8er.org where Noggie has come from is a smaller 8 series forum but the quality of posts is very good. I have gained valuable knowledge and different perspectives from there (the steering wheel being on the wrong side notwithstanding), as there are some very talented people that frequent that board. Some of the responses are priceless.....:stickoutt
Welcome here Noggie, your experience with the 8er and fresh insights are a really good thing.

Hello Noggie

welcome from good old Germany :)!

Nice pics - very interesting car-configuration! Do you have a Hartge-VIN or is it still a BMW?

Hello Noggie

welcome from good old Germany :)!

Thanks, I will probably be in Germany with the car sometime during the summer at some meeting.

No the car does not have a Hartge VIN, it is not one of the 6.1l H8.

The car was bougt new by a German businessman in Münic in November 1990, ln 1991, after 18.000km it was taken to a Hartge shop in Münic.
According to papers that I have the following work was done.
-Hartge camshafts (spec unknown, asked Hartge but they don't now)
-Hartge engine controller reprogramming.
-Hartge auto gearbox reprograming
-Hartge sport mufflers (but I don't think they are on the car anymore)
-Rear diff replaced from 3.15 to 3.45.

I think this is something Hartge put out to match the Alpina 5.0l

The car was imported to Norway in 1994.
I do not know excatly how many owners the car has had.
The car was registered 3 times in Germany on a company, a person, and the same company again, so I guess it has had just 1 owner there.
In Norway I know it has had at least 2 owners, the last owner pretty much just kept in a garage.
I watched the service history and the car had done 4000km the last 2,5 years before I bought it.

I bought the car in September 2006, it had then done 126.000km, when I put it into winter storage last year it had done 142.000km.

When I got it it needed a little care.
A proper cleaning helped alot, but the 17" AC Schnitzer type I was dented and corroded, so I needed new ones. They was bought in the summer of 2007 in Pegnitz in Germany by http://www.felgen-garage.de/
@tdotbimmer, The lips are 4,5"front and 5" rear, I wanted the biggest i could get :)

I have replaced distributor caps/rotors, coils and plug wires which helped alot on the engine performance (almost 20hp) and consumption.
Changed the front/rear suspension parts last year, including all the steering rods.

My plans this year are a new steeringwheel, exhaust (louder) and a supercharger kit.
Might tint the windows/lamps this year too.

Future mods are a CSI bodykit and a respray.
